I wouldn't use it in casual conversation but I can't say it is one that bothers me.

It's an awful technique to use. Basically, blast the ball into an area where you strikers might be able to get a head on it. Goes back to that horrendous FA coaching that was created by that dinosaur Charlie Hughes

Any more rumours on the Divin Muamba possible signing?

Personally think he would be an exciting addition to the squad

It is unfortunately often linked to Reep and Hughes. The concept of POMO is still sound. Getting into positions from which you're more likely to score is essential no matter what type of game you play. It's really only when you combine it with Hughes other ideas that it becomes something unpalatable.

Johnsons version of it worked but yeah I agree the original usage of it is archaic.

What I don't like is this uniform approach to taking up positions regardless of the patterns of play. As if where the striker stands, then dictates how the attack plays out. The beauty of football is seeing pass and move, clever runs and clever passes to fool the opposition defence. Lumping the ball to the back post hoping your 6'4" striker can head it might be effective, but it's not pleasing to the eye. It all comes down to what's more important - results or style of football.

The goal Clarke scored v Reading wouldn't happen with a team playing that rigid way.

I won’t be getting excited over any more teenage forward signings.

To be fair the original use of the term, was of its time in the game. We wouldnt think the Hughes of this world tactics would succeed now, but we still want strikers to be able to fins the best possible position. The term is relatively straight forward and still applies in the modern game where possession is more favoured. It just takes longer to find the angle to play the pass to POMO these days, because it is a more precise game. The best number 9 in the country is Haaland for me, and he bases his game in finding that position.

For me if we brought someone in like Mubama, it has to be alongside a more experienced CF. Mubama is highly rated and had a lot more experience in a first team setup than say Hemir or Mayenda had and it was a PL environment.

I can understand the pessimism after the last few strikers we signed, to be honest.

Mubama looks the part and is highly rated but he would need to be signed as well as someone more established imo.

Another striker with barely any 1st team experience, what would make him any better Hemir

I would say our signings of highly rated young lads from British academies have proved successful so far.
But if we do bring him in, I’d like a more experienced striker in alongside.

Nope, don’t feel it’s what we need. Just want some proper signings after last summers hideous window.
