It’s not rocket science, we have 3 players that can play in Oscars position, additional players can play there if really needed.

We’ll be fine without him or a like for like replacement. A winger like Philogene was needed much more than Oscar.

Wonder how Botanic boy is feeling right now?

Can imagine him crying into a pint, in the bar on his own, shouting 'Acun told me to put a bet on top 6 and that we were signing a blow your beans level player' like a bloke who has found out his missus has been lying to him about where she goes on a Thursday morning for 'yoga class'.
Acun keeps lying to him it seems. First the Turkey match dates, now this

So the windows shut, from the end of last season to now on paper......

Goalkeepers - weaker

Defense - over all stronger IF vinagre stays fit, if we lose 2x CBs at the same time it could get interesting

midfield - should be stronger, but still feels little weak on depth out wide if we lose a winger for a period of time, be square pegs in round holes again

Forwards - weaker

Now the window is closed, Let's see where we are after the next 10 games. LR has said these are his choices and fair few his first choices, so now it's down to him.
Very harsh opinion I think.

We now have 2 very experienced, permanent keepers which we haven't had for a while do not really weaker.
2 good full backs on each side, admittedly would have liked 1 more centre half.
Midfield looks good to me, Morton is good quality. Added to Seri, Slater, Tufan, Traore, Doc as back up.
Lokilo, Twine and Philogene added to Allayhar, Vaughan and Sinik as wide options, possibly the young Turk too.
Delap and Connolly are an upgrade on Oscar and Tetteh. We played the end of last season with no strikers so not sure how we are weaker than then?
Think if we got offered this squad in May we would have been delighted.

I'm sorry and I'll take the flack....but that whole quote from LR just stinks of "I'm hearing the fans saying xyz, so I'll say all those things to prove them wrong"

Liverpool have let him come here as we made the best offer financially. He's really trying to hard now to justify what he's doing. All the rubbish about having a reputation about developing young players, can anyone say who they have been because so far....

Vale - failure
Simmons - failure
Malcolm - failure

'We’re starting to gain a reputation as a club that want to develop young players, improve them and give them a chance to move to Fleetwood Town.'

Not a bad window but could have done to have another goalie and left back.

A winger like Philogene was needed *for* Oscar.

It’s like we signed all the bits we were missing in order to build a balanced team, then sold the guy we balanced the team for.
It’s done now, hopefully what we have will see us through to Christmas.

My biggest concern is that the combined career goal tallies of Connolly, Allahyar and Liam Delap at Championship level is one goal less than Oscar’s, and he only had one injury hit season.

But hey, if those three can prove me wrong, I’d love it. Or, if the Turkish lad we signed turns out to be a baller and we end up with an extra first team player we weren’t expecting, we’ll be golden.

Strong window in most respects...

I rate Lokilo as someone that could show us something this season.

Philogene I'm very happy with.

We need Sinik to have a run in the team and for him to finally prove why he was worth us bringing him in, he's the only proper cover for the two wingers (if we play them)

Twine, seems like a good signing, but we can't stick him out wide every game. Like Traore, when he drifts in there'll be positives, but it won't work as we'll be stifling him.

Connolly I'm very happy to see back with us.

Delap was an inspired signing.

Vinagre definitely has something about him but begs the robustness question.

Morton, no idea on benefits yet.

Allsop, no idea on benefits yet.

Furlong provides us cover, but no idea on benefits yet.

The Turkish kid we'll probably never see... Is he good enough to pressure for a start or a sub on? I mean, why would we loan someone for the U21s?

Feel sorry for Simons.

Feel sorry for Cox and he wasn't our player anyways.

Woods, Longman and Fleming needed to go. Can understand the Tetteh scenario entirely.

BUT - letting Oscar go with no replacement just seems absolutely bonkers to me, regardless of playing style or any of that ****. He's proven he can do it at this level even in an injury blighted team through a season where he's had minimal service. It feels like a real 'trip yourself up' at the last hurdle thing to me, especially if its true that he wanted to stay. If we keep playing Tufan off the striker and nobody gets injured, then I feel kind of positive about it, but the odds of that happening across the season are probably slim.

We either need Rosie to play Allahyar centrally as cover for our one, debatably two strikers, and for him to bag some of the chances he'll hopefully get whilst he's on, OR we need a decent striker on a free as we're certainly light there now.

Who the hell was this 'surprise' forward signing? We all knew about Rak Sakyi being a potential winger coming in so it can't be him... If it is, then frankly the noises surrounding the club have been blowing smoke up our collective arses.

To reiterate - good window overall, but if you're letting your top scorer go this late on, bring someone in as a statement of intent before it's too late. Despite everything I think has been good about this window, making that decision after Davis fell through has left a fairly sour taste for me. Doesn't scream 'we want to get promoted' to me.

Hoping we bring a very good freebie in now, which I'm aware Oscar also was.

Norwich lost Omabamidele to Forest and Leeds lose Sinisterra to Bournemouth. Leeds get a Bournemouth reserve as part of the deal.

Ouch.

Seems that nobody noticed how many times the ball bounced off him or for big guy had it taken off him , we don’t play high ball and he mostly got out jumped , he was fairly useful at corners but as I said before how many went over the bar . If you want to play possession he’s not your man. He’s a good guy who tries hard and is very professional but a good L1 forwrd or very average Champ one.
