Do get the feeling some fans waiting for us not to sign every player we've been linked with this week so they can say 'told you so.' It's mad transfer deadline day - nobody gets everything they want. If I look at what we've done as a whole since end of last season, I think we've moved forward. Delap's pressing and work rate and bringing others into play is miles ahead of Oscar or Tetteh (when he wasn't injured), Connolly's started like a house on fire and Twine very highly rated. And I see a few have already concluded on Vinagre and Lokilo on the base of one average game for Vinagre (when suspect he wasn't match fit) and one game for Lokilo when he was really good and made the first goal! Oh, and in his RH interview today, Liam seems to have accepted he needs a CDM who can win the ball.
Absolutely and I think it's important to point out that with transfers, doubly especially on deadline day, things change very quickly. I posted a list the other day of what we would see if
everything went to plan, and by the end of the day I'd found out that the deal had been held up while some final bullshit was sorted (which turned out to be Ipswich sticking their noses in.). Sometimes the landscape can change quicker than people can type (or sign a contract), the best transfers happen behind closed doors and make fans go "where the **** did that come from?"
Baz has come under a bit of flack for his "it's habbening!!" stories, but the poor sod can only go off what he's told/allowed to post up, if he's told "we expect it today, just got to sign this and we'll announce it, crack on", then he's going to post it. He's a journalist at the end of the day, part of his job is to get people to read the thing he's written so that his company makes money, which needs to sound exciting and exclusive.
It wouldn't surprise me at all if we signed more than three tomorrow, like LR said in his interview, players can become available that you wouldn't think were and if they improve you, even in areas you aren't targeting, you take them.
For example, we might go in for target man Andi Zeqiri. He was all set to move to Metz, but then decided not to and is still at Brighton. Birmingham want him, so do other clubs in Europe. With Davis now not coming, it's a potential forward option that wasn't available two days ago. As a result of this, Metz now want Oscar, which would mean we would definitely need another striker. When Bob closes a door...
