New forward #2 sounds an awful lot like what we already have at the club. Willing to be blown away though if he's quality

What we have at the moment is a winger who is perpetually recovering, a young lad who is going out on loan, a player Rosie doesn’t want and Lokilo.
What we’re after is more utility in the players we sign, which allows us greater tactical flexibility during games. If a player is just a winger, you can’t change the formation and bring him on if the original formation only plays wingers. The square pegs meme has been an ongoing issue, hence players like Tufan, Traore, Slater and Vaughan and playing wide.

No, it’s not a hold up player that could play on their own up front. Not unless you were Phil Brown doing a “***an as the lone striker” move.

Would make sense to be chair if Tufan got injured he could easily play the second striker when I’m not sure our other options can…

There’s another wide player coming in as well, though it’s taken longer because other clubs needed to do business first to allow him to go.

Before Friday, if all goes to plan, you’ll see:

Allsop (now confirmed, welcome)

New Forward #1 (possibly Rak-Sakyi but an abroad alternative available if the aforementioned isn’t)

New Forward #2 (domestic, quite expensive, can play wide, AM and up front)

DM from abroad

George Cox (no rush because he’s unattached and can be signed and registered at any time after the deadline - I don’t have any details on him, but I did just drive past him heading to the training ground while taking the little one to nursery, not sure I like those new LR Discoveries)

Out:

Fleming to Grimsby (there was talk of in that deal Glennon but Rosey prefers Cox - arf!)

Sinik possibly back to Turkey on loan to get minutes

Oscar - another higher bid expected, another team from Turkey want him as well)

Lo-Tutala to L2 club that might be Harrogate.

Vaughan to L1 club (told its Pompey till Xmas but that’s not from my usual source).

Longman to either Blackpool or Bristol Rovers (latter seem to have money to spend, want a permanent, don’t think Longy will go for it).

Sincere Hall wanted by Scarborough and Shelbourne. Didn’t realise they (Shels) don’t have a foreign loans limit, we could - in theory - send all our U21s there if they wanted).

Tinsdale (U21s midfielder we signed from Bradford) wanted by Darlington.

I don’t know about Simons, I wasn’t told. At a guess I’d say Ireland beckons.

EDIT: to avoid panic, I’ve been told Philogene will be announced today, hence why I didn’t include him and Davis is deciding, we can’t do anything else except up our offer (which we won’t unless we are desperate and we aren’t).
Offer for Slater from unnamed Championship club has come in over the weekend. Not expected to be accepted but is pretty good.
Thanks Psychic Steven. I hope your predictions are better the the usual bolloxy ones on here.

Vaughan out to a Portsmouth would be perfect. I was discussing that last week and think regular minutes for him at that level would be great.

My worry is that he goes somewhere and doesn't get minutes. He's small and slight and I can just see someone of his build not being trusted to start by a team who are prioritising their own results. Sort of the equivalent of us loaning Vale, although the obvious difference is that Vale is a lazy sod and Vaughan isn't.

The good managers are flexible in their styles of play, but all of them will favour a style if given the choice. The key to it is getting in the players that can do what the manager wants but are comfortable if plan A doesn't work to switch to plan B. I can see what he is trying to do, but for.me he also has to be mindful that other managers also see his plan A style, and combat it, this is where Rosie needs to improve, recognising this and working out how to change it in play to overcome it.

Is George Cox a LR Discovery? Presumably LR coached him at Brighton? Vroom vroom. A goal every ten games from full back in the Dutch first division isn't bad.

I can't see that changing drastically. We have too many good players whose best position is centrally. You can't fit more than one of Twine, Tufan and Traore in the same side without putting them out wide.
