Funny thing is I thought Ingram had his best game last night in terms of distribution. Some of his passing was real quality. Allsop is good competition
Stoke have just signed Wouter Burger for £4.3 million. Since it seems our FFP situation has miraculously improved and we’re shelling out £5 million for Philogene, we should spend a couple million or more on a quality defensive midfielder. It’s the biggest weakness in our current squad.
Ingram wasn't the issue against Doncaster ... it was the 10 statues in front of him.Does Liam think Ingram is capable? His fannying about vs Doncaster maybe exposed his weakness with his ball at his feet.
Great shot stopper, but I’d be very surprised if he’s first choice in a couple of months (last few years, successive managers have bought in a No 2 on loan and waited until Ingram makes one mistake and drops him)
Baz tweeted this 10 mins agoI reckon the midfielder we want to sign on loan is someone like Tyler Morton who is a young, technical player but doesn’t address the issue in midfield at all which is the lack of physicality, aggression and off-the-ball defensive work.
Are you Baz in disguise?
hes certainly not a major issue but always gives me a smile seeing you defending Ingram to the hilt even when everyone was on the Darlow train. It’s something I’d look at in Jan if we have funds available and he can’t improve his feet imo.
Tbf it was both (Ingram and the statues). Ingram had plenty of chances to offload quickly to CBs (or even just to go long) but for some utterly bizarre reason no matter where he picked up the ball he just walked back centrally before doing anything. Near to the most bizarre game I've ever seen.Ingram wasn't the issue against Doncaster ... it was the 10 statues in front of him.
To be fair I think it's something Howden's always been right on. Ingram makes big saves week in week out and his distribution this season has been very good, but for some reason he just can't shake this tag of being a limited, lower-end keeper that we need to replace.
Coyle is technically limited, to play centrally in our style would leave him exposed probablyIf we don't sign 'this midfielder' we need - would it be worth having Coyle in this role?
