It's not different ( and definitely not baffling) to having a years loan you pay a fee for. We have done it this way to free up a loan spot ( which will give you an indication of our aims ) and if things are going well we can negotiate an extended contract direct with the player at any point during the season

This must've been said 10 times now and people keep ignoring it. Again seems like some people choosing to see what they want to in order to be angry about it. Don't see another explanation for repeatedly ignoring this.

Just seems pointless to use up a loan spot in the matchday squad on him when surely we could have just signed him on a one year deal with an option.

When he was first linked I made the exact same point, not sure why it's so surprising to people that we just didn't want to waste a loan spot when it has the same outcome.

We don't have to name him in the squad of course. If the plan is not to play him in the first team then we can just leave him off it.

But I suppose that would underline it. Why take a player on loan (with seemingly no option to buy) just to develop him in our U21s?

So even stranger he's with the u21s. I guess similar to Salah in that respect.

It's pretty much a work experience gig for the lad. A fair few people I know are scratching their heads at it as it's going to be very difficult for us to see any benefit from it. It's almost like he's doing them a favour in the hope they do us one further down the line maybe

If we are adding to the youth team then we should look at Pontus Dahbo from FC Hacken. Only 17, and before someone says something about Football Manager, I saw him vs TNS the other week.
He’s an attacking midfielder who I think will be a cracking player

Like PLT said, we could just leave him out of the 25-man squad but then he’d only be able to play for the under-21s. That would be quite odd since I don’t see how that would benefit us, Fenerbahçe or even the player.

It's an odd one. Only makes sense as a try before you buy kind of deal, but then I don't know why Fenerbahçe would be allowing that.

Also I’m fairly certain we signed Salah to be part of the first-team, not the under-21s. He was named in the 25-man squad and given the #10 shirt. He just never played a single minute for the first-team because he was constantly crocked.

This Turkish lad, coming now, gives him the chance to become home grown. Maybe Fenerbahce aren’t decided on him either and this leaves everyone lots of doors open and chance to see how he does?

It’s less ridiculous than the Connolly deal. I’d rather have kept Tetteh.
