i think the inverse is true, because we don’t have a structured defensive midfielder and in general are quite lightweight we make up for it with very conservative boring football. A solid dm allows more freedom to the other midfielders, I actually think Bird is perfect for this role though whilst some others don’t. Game of opinions etc.

That's actually exactly what I was saying!

Just catching up
We’ve signed Connolly on a one year deal???
And people are trying to say that it’s great where doing that?? <laugh>

I know some on here want everything the new regime is doing to be just brilliant and great
But Jesus if ehab did that thered be a melt down

it’s a bizarre decision if it’s true

Rosenior seemed to imply there's some complexity behind the deal. Almost as if it protects both sides if he gets injured or performs really well

You're not the first person to say that "if it was Ehab" line.

If it was Ehab, he'd have gone elsewhere after the initial loan spell because of us lowballing him on wages, and we'd have got someone out of contract at a League 2 club instead.

But it’s true isn’t it

This is a bizarre decision and it doesn’t matter who made it it’s still bizarre

We've got at least 3 loan spots we can use and i still think we could lose greaves and oscar as well as longman, woods and maybe others.
So i think quite a lot of changes to come.
We are a project in progress. They did say the squad would be stronger and i think it will be. But i still think we might lack goals from set pieces and contributions from around the team. If greaves does go then we lose his contribution and much as i like mcloughlin and jones, i don't see them getting many from corners etc.

He played 5 games last season Chazz. If we signed him to a 3 year deal and he missed the whole season we'd be furious.
Then don’t sign him at all
Whether it’s injuries or in his head
We’re paying 1.2 million and wages and he won’t come cheap will he
As someone else said if he’s **** it’s a massive waste
If he’s good he’ll fuxk off and we’ll get **** all
Utterly bizarre

I disagree Chazz, low risk for us if it goes pear shaped. And if he does well the kid seems to like rosy and the squad, maybe naive, but feel he is already showing some loyalty to us if the one year deal is about proving himself.

its already been said that we are paying nowhere near £1.2 million for him

There's no way we've paid that reported fee of £1.2m

I'd put money on the nominal fee we got for Tetteh being the same fee we've paid for Connolly.

Did we sign Connolly because our first target(s) went elsewhere?
I seen to remeber LR saying Initially that we weren’t pursuing Aron.
Then all of a sudden he’s signing a 1 year deal, I know we’ve lost tetteh and that changes things but it’s hardly a like for like and we needed another forward anyway

It’s a one year loan with a loan fee paid. But structured as a signing so as not to occupy one of the loan slots. Makes more sense if regarded that way.

We're not paying 1.2m, where'd you see that? He was basically free.

LR probably said we are not persuing Connelly to get him to make his mind up. He wasnt going anywhere at Brighton, and if he was holding out for money from us, or Brighton were? That would be the hand I would have played too. It's mind games, like buying a house, 'I've seen one down the next street for less than you are asking, so if you seriously want a sale.......'
