Shelbourne Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Harry Wood from Hull City on loan for the remainder of the 2023 season, subject to international clearance.

A central midfielder, the 20-year-old was born in Leeds and began his football career at Manchester United’s academy.

Wood joined Hull’s academy as an Under-16, making his senior debut in their final game of the 2020/21 season against Charlton Athletic, lifting the League One title.

He made his home debut for the club in the EFL Cup against Wigan in August 2021 before then joining League Two side Scunthorpe United on loan.

Wood made 13 appearances and registered four assists, before returning to the Tigers in January 2022.

Wood was then a mainstay in the Hull Under-21s last season, with notable performances being a hat-trick against Charlton and netting in the national Professional Development League semi-final against Millwall.

As well as making his EFL Championship debut in Hull City’s final game of the season against Luton Town.

Guess he signed a new deal then...

"There was a player we were very upset about because we couldn't convince him. We spent 2 days together in Turkey. Recently, the boy called me. I can't forget that energy, he said, I want to come to Hull City. I'm waiting for that boy to come. He is one of England's most important talents. It's coming, it's coming..."

Is this Twine? Acun likes to talk up players doesnt he.. "one of Englands most important talents." <laugh>

Hopefully he can do a job for us. We were trying to bring him in last year as KLP's replacement..

I once saw Paul Hunter score the winner for us against Stoke at Fer Ark. They were all over us, missed an open goal, and then we scored with our only real chance of the game about 5 minutes from the end.
McPhee
Hunter
Duffy

127 combined appearances 16 goals.

I really don't get why this sparks you up so much, not everyone can be or wants to be a super fan. From those like my mam who at the end only listened on humberside (when it was on) and checked the results to those who attend every game home and away, you're all following the team. We're not all the same, some can blow a grand or two to go see the friendlies in Turkey and not even think about the cost, others are sitting at home hoping we do well whilst worrying about how to pay the bill's sitting on on the mantlepiece. It's just the way life is, accept it.
Paying £5 to watch a live stream from Turkey or buying a ticket for a friendly game doesnt make anyone a 'superfan'. It just means they are a supporter of the club. I also, like everyone have bills to pay, that's got nothing to do with it. But supporters expecting everything for nothing, should really look up the meaning of the word.

Again, this is my point mate. Away travel is free, tickets are kept cheap, because this ownership generally recognises that getting more support and eyeballs is more important than a small increase in revenue they may get, and they are instead trying to get revenue from sponsors. I would have thought pre-season games are games you would show for free to drum up support and excitement for the team and encourage people to pay for season passes after experiencing a preview for free on games they wouldn't otherwise pay to watch. They showed last season's game against Fener for free for instance.

Anyway it's done and people have their opinions.
Pre season friendlies have never been free.

Yeh - opening game of the season v the promo faves.

Hunter's goal v BHA was pretty smart too - clean through just inside their half.

Worst striker (maybe even player) I've ever seen play for us was Andy Brown.

It’s a clean slate. The players are well on board with LRs playing style. They will have focus on fitness in pre season, which under Shota didn’t seem to exist. We have a clear way of playing. No doubt there’ll be bumps in the road. I remain convinced that the club is in a better place to make a concerted challenge. The club is finally all pulling in the same direction.
Well said

Shelbourne FC is delighted to announce the permanent signing of Harry Fisk from Hull City, subject to international clearance.

Fisk joins Hull City teammate Harry Wood in moving to Tolka Park today. At just 20 years of age, the highly promising young goalkeeper brings a wealth of talent and potential to the first team club, further bolstering our goalkeeping department following the departure of Scott van-der-Sluis.

Born and raised in Cottingham, Fisk’s football journey began at Hull City’s academy, where he joined at Under-14s level. He swiftly progressed through the ranks, culminating in the signing of his first professional contract with the English club in May 2021.

Throughout his early career, Fisk gained invaluable experience through loan spells at Spalding United and Tadcaster Albion during the 2021/22 season.

The Englishman returned to Tadcaster Albion on loan last season making six appearances. Fisk has honed his skill and trained under respected goalkeeping mentors including former Wimbledon and Tottenham goalkeeper Neil Sullivan provided invaluable guidance during his time at Hull City.

Will these lads actually improve Shelbourne? I have no idea what the quality over there is like.

I've only seen a small amount of it but pretty sure Wood will.

The league doesn't have the physicality of L2 and they do try and get it down.

Regardless of the norm, L2 isn't great preparation for playing in the Championship.

McPhee
Hunter
Duffy
Didn't McPhee try to chip the Cardiff keeper from the spot (4-1 win, probably PBs first game in charge after Parkinson's sacking) and made a God awful mess of it. It was *Lineker-esque in its execution.
i saw Duffy get a brace at Stoke, unplayable that day...ps they missed two pens!!
*England vs Brazil.

Does Shelbourne have a messageboard like this instead of frigging facebook? Been trying to find one but no luck.
