He's just struggling to make the next step and push on, I think he'll have a shot at a pro career, but I think it'll be lower leagues. He needs to go play regularly and stay injury free

He made it to the England U20s not that long ago, but yeah I think he needs to be playing, this year was a complete waste for him. I just wonder if he would drop down to a level that would see his ability make him first choice. As he seemed content to sit on the bench for two league one teams this season.

I wonder who the left-back we’re close to getting is? Either Toffolo or Manning would be my guess but Manning will have his pick of clubs and I think he’ll go to Southampton or Leeds.

Southampton have Walker-Peters and Romain Perraud though, unless one of them leaves it wouldn't make sense for Manning to go there, with or without Russell Martin.

Leeds maybe.

It's close to being done, the LB deal. I imagine it'll be announced when the players are back from holidays in a couple of weeks, unless it goes tits.

Teams seem to have started announcing players, can’t see why we wouldn’t.

Looks like Cardiff have appointed a Turkish, ex Fenerbahce manager. **** off, Turkey is ours you sheep shagging bastards.

Don't forget though, the squad is dynamic, we don't start the season saying "right, here's the first XI, you lot are on the bench until May."

Young players can be **** one minute and fantastic the next. I remember watching Danny Emerton play for us in pre season against York ages ago and thinking he looked ready for the first team. That didn't happen. Some players start out talented and get better or worse, some start out not as good and then find their niche. Magennis was a goalkeeper until he turned 19. In fact, he was on the bench for Cardiff as their reserve goalkeeper when they played Liverpool in the Carling Cup in 2008 (yes, I had to look that up to remember the game/year), I can't recall any other player being a goalkeeper and then becoming an outfield player for the rest of their career. Would love to know if there were more. (How's that for a tangent?!)

Gordon Nisbet

Ingram has seen off a couple of supposedly first choice keepers and darlow could be the next. The club make sure he gets a decent run at it when he gets an opportunity and he does well. But we want two players competing in every position. All in my opinion as i know nowt
I know Ingram had a good run but overall Baxter was preferred as was Darlow after that. Meaning Ingram didn't see either off. Injury did for Baxter and Darlow went back. Ingram is a decent no 2 but not quite good enough for 1st choice imo, especially with the ball at his feet

Pretty much agree with this. I know at one time when he played it meant we were letting three goals in even though it didn't seem to be his fault. However that's not the case now and i don't mind it if he's picked. I'm not sure baxter looked all that at the start of the season

I like Ingram and my feeling is that he is good enough. However you are right that Ingram has always ultimately been dropped for the others, and only tends to get back in due to injuries. So it does seem that managers don't see him as number 1 material.

He’s a great shot stopper but much like De Gea at United now I think when you’ve got a gaffer who wants to play the way he does, Ingram’s limitations will only hinder us long term as much as I do rate him. Probably as good a shot stopper as I’ve seen but not great at dominating his area and really slow distribution

I don't really see those weaknesses in his game. There's been the odd game where he's put a couple of kicks off the pitch while aiming for the touchline, but that happens with most keepers and I don't think he's as bad at playing out from the back as people say, and I don't really know what the "slow distribution" criticism really even means. Do you mean too cautious, rarely taking a gamble on a quick throw out on the break?

To me he seems to sort of hesitate, as if he's thinking I've got to pass it out short coz that's what I've been told to do but doesn't seem comfortable or natural with it, which on occasion leads to poor decisions & risky moments. Obvs not all the time but more than should be happening. He also doesn't seem to look for an early ball out.
He's ok but I just don't think he's a fit for our style.

There’s plenty of times this season he holds the ball way too long when players are screaming at him for it, I never criticised his actual distribution anyway just the speed of it.
