Gonna be a fair few mags players looking for a new clubs this summer. Not sure if any are worth throwing in a job lot with Darlow.

Maybe Jamaal Lewis would be looking for something better than the championship. But he's behind Matt Targett in the pecking order and he's borderline premier league quality.

Jamal Lewis is a fantastic shout, he's played so little football in the last few years but we'd be a great place for him to come and play regularly

Couple of first teamers haven't agreed terms at Swansea.

Maybe we're going down the 'Christie Route' with another one or two this window...?

Weirdest thing happened on Friday. I went with a couple of City fans to Parma as they wanted to look at the errea HQ and we took in a game at rhe same time. One had his City shirt on and as we walked into a bars outside seating area a Geordie lad called us over and told us he was a City fan. Despite early concerns he might just be off his head he actually is a member and comes to plenty of games at the MKM.

Anyway we followed each other on twitter and the next day he sent us a picture of him on his plane home with Karl Darlow who happened to have the very next seat to him!!!

He has since tweeted that picture. He said Darlows missus dropped some massive hints he will be at the club next year as well as Karl himself stating he expects his kid to grow up a City fan which is odd for someone who wasn't here more than a few months. He must be coming back.

I saw the picture on Twitter :emoticon-0148-yes:

Newcastle aren’t short of a bob or two to make up the difference/pay off Darlow’s contract. If he’s not going to get registered in their squad, and he wants to move, they would probably stand to lose more financially than just taking it on the chin and allowing it, they’re already committed to spend it anyway. Most big business in any industry would make the decision to cut their losses on a no longer needed asset.

I can’t see finances being a barrier to this transfer to be honest.

that will be the way if happens, talks are happening at both ends. Karl wants to come, but from what I'm hearing he isn't keen on walking away from the guaranteed money of his current deal ( who can blame him ) so a pay off to cover it all is best all round

I would imagine we will be offering him in the region of £20k-£22k a week anyway so the payoff might not be that significant.

I doubt it, that’s a massive wage for the championship and plenty of decent keepers about that would take less than half of that. We already have one.

It's a decent wage for the championship but not a massive one. It is a big investment for us though.

It's not a massive wage at all considering Darlow is one of the best keepers in the league. I don't believe we could sign an equivalent for cheaper

It’s about 10% of our entire turnover. If that’s not a massive wage for 1/25 senior players, I don’t know what is.

We won't be paying 100% of what he's on at Newcastle if we sign him. He'll be negotiating his release (or his agent will be) with them as we speak. They'll pay some of his contract up and we'll pay the rest.

It'll still be a good whack though.

Spanner in the works could be a couple of other interested teams....he wants to come buy money talks

It's natural that there would be interest, but apparently he expects to come here and has said as much to folk so fingers crossed.

He's definitely making positive noises which can only be good, if we end up with Ingram and darlow then I'm not sure they'll be many if any teams that have a better #1&2 goalkeepers in this league

So it might be a big(ish) wage, but he is proven Premier League quality, and could be our number 1 for the next half dozen years given our stated ambition. Ingram is good, but is he capable of being a solid PL player? That must be a consideration?

If darlow was a nailed on prem keeper then other prem teams would be looking at him, especially with how cheap he would be ( in prem terms ), at the min they aren't.....
