I don’t see how we could ever get Muriqi now. £7 million bid last summer, he signed a five-year deal at Mallorca, has had a good season so his stock has risen therefore he’d cost a bomb. Plus he’s 29 so even if we did sign him, he wouldn’t have much resale value. Just my opinion but I think there’s probably much cheaper options available that we could make a profit on in the future.

I'm all for making money on players but somebody like Muriqi would be a big step towards promotion and that's worth a hell of a lot more than £7m.

Doesn’t need to be so excessive though. Such a big outlay in one area when we need quality in others first. Oscar would score more with consistent chances created, something we haven’t done all season

Would he though? 6 in 29, 6th in the league for big chances missed with 13 and he's outperformed his xG by a couple which nobody does over a career

It couldn't be Bryan Reynolds, could it? Westerlo have a purchase option for $7.5m, a recent report said he'd been over to have a look at our training ground and we've been linked for ages

He got 15 in the Portuguese premier league, without a doubt he would. He’s still the biggest goal threat in the squad.

We’ve gone a full season without any consistent quality out wide. The only time we remotely looked like we had it was Tetteh early doors when Oscar was potent

*15 and it's still a completely different league in terms of style, physicality and tempo though. He probably is our biggest goal threat, but he's not going to take you up and we've not missed him since he's been out. We look a better team with Tufan up there

There was more than a touch of fortune about some of his early goals. In his Cov hattrick, there was one massive keeper error and the other 2 hit him about 3 yards out (good thing being in the right place but he hasn't repeated it)

He's scored 12 and got 2 assists in 28 la liga games.

Yeah he'd be a step towards promotion but he'd also be a step towards an FFP points deduction unless we shifted a lot on and got a significant fees for 1 or more of our current assets.

But why come to the championship if you're close to 1 in 2 in la liga - even if we could match the finances?

The fee would be amortised so wouldn't be horrendous. When you look at the wages we've wasted on Pelkas, Vale, Baxter, Woods, Sinik, Figs with smarter recruitment it's not that bad

I don't think Figs is on silly money. I think you'd be surprised.

Pelkas, Vale, Baxter expire so represent a significant saving on wages but don't generate any capital.

Woods won't go for much of a fee - we'll be lucky to find someone who'll cover his contract.

If we can get our money back on sinik?

Then that's not going to be enough to prize Muriqi on 4 out of a 5 years deal out of Mallorca.

Unless there's some sort of injection of cash over this seasons finances anyway...

Villa wanted Muriqi in January and were directed to the £34m release clause in his contract. He's also on about £60k a week at Mallorca. Even on his best day, you'd struggle to convince Acun to part with that kind of money.

Incidentally, Figs is on comparatively little (he's one of the lowest paid first team players).

ST the £7m figure being mentioned was a bid from last year Acun was on about. He went elsewhere and now supposedly wants to come. Not a £7m bid now..

But he's just won promotion to the Premier League and Kompany was quoted as saying Twine would have no problems stepping up to the Premier League this season. If I'm wrong, fair enough, situations can change, but I really don't think it's him.
