I seem to recall Acun or someone saying that Fenerbache wanted to do a co-ownership deal, but it's not allowed in this country so they have a 50% sell on fee instead. Given those circumstances I wouldn't be surprised if it was the total fee.

So if we sell him for 50k after loaning him out for the next two years at 2m loan fees each year, they only get 25k, would be pretty silly.

Man U used to do it with all the youngsters. If Fenerbahce valued him at £6m but we would only pay £4m then it might tip the balance.

If you ever listen to the agents they get on talk sport the actual transfer fees and player bonuses are far from sensible and can get quite ridiculous, with things like cars, houses and boats often used to sweeten deals.

Surely if such a clause were to happen they would make it apply on all transfer fees including loan fees.

Loan fees don't count for sell-on clauses as you haven't sold the player, unless something's changed in definitions.. It's how plenty of clubs have gotten around sell on clauses by loaning players in the last year of their deal and instead receiving a loan fee instead of selling the player.

Get a lower initial fee is probably the reason

Possibly, just seems a bit pointless if we do end up selling him at a loss (as seems the case), but I suppose Fener get closer to their original valuation for him.

There has been rumours it is the case here but obviously everyone's guessing. I think honestly people are basing it off football manager where when you sell Allayhar it does come with a 50% sell on transfer fee

I haven’t had football manager for the best part of a decade but I was under the impression there is a 50% sell on, recall it being talked about when we signed him permanently anyway and it wouldn’t have come from football manager then because it doesn’t get released until October - November time does it?

Who would know what counts and what doesn’t without seeing the sale contract between the two clubs for any particular transfer.

This is what you call scouting... Southampton paid 5.9 million euro in August 2021 from Chelsea with a sell on clause.

Well it's a sell on fee, and a fee for a loan doesn't involve a sale.

If you factor in effort then I’m better than Malcolm!

You certainly put more into it than he did on match day.

Can't understand why Rosenior seems so reluctant to give Simons a start in central midfield.

I don’t get it either, I also don’t get why we need max bird… he’ll come in and go ahead of Simons

I suspect it’s because Slater was Players’ and Supporters’ POTY last season and he rates him very highly and Seri is pivotal to the way he wants to play in a possession system. However, Seri and Slater as a partnership is just too lightweight and unbalanced. Hopefully Simons starts tonight and does well and he might be in contention for a starting place on Saturday. Seri has looked rusty all pre-season and against Norwich. His defensive work has always been his weakness but recently he’s not offered enough creatively either. Most fans probably see Seri as undroppable due to his abilities but we can’t be too dependent on him nor build the team around him.

This, so what does that say about all the eulogising from management when Simons arrived... more bollocks...
