It's definitely a long-term project and it's been made harder as we have to alter some of the business done last year but I'm pretty happy with the window so far. It's also easy to forget but Jones, Macca, Coyle, Slater and Vaughan have all signed long-term deals this summer too. It ain't exciting but it's really necessary and they've all got their best years ahead of them.
Coyle?

I'm aware, but whether we're paying Newcastle or Darlow himself, the package is still under 2m and is more than reasonable. Hell, if we'd been quoted 2m as a transfer fee ignoring wages I'd have thought that was reasonable for him. Didn't we pay 3.5m for Sinik (no clue what he's on as a wage)?

If we signed Darlow to a 4-year deal, it'd take until the end of the third year for his wages + fee to have cost us as much as Sinik's fee alone.

This is the one that's ****ing us. Sinik. I can forgive everything else last window and I get this is with a heavy pinch of hindsight but Sinik's package is hampering us for his non existent output.

Even more infuriating is we haven't seen him this year and he's supposedly not even fit

Writing off the debt has no bearing on FFP. While they sold their ground and also wrote off highly valued player contracts during the grace period of COVID, they 'should' have been much more heavily restricted this summer, so I wouldn't expect them to be spending too much going forward.

They've only bought one this year rest have been loans or frees so I suspect its now catching up on them now

I thought the other day when Rosie mentioned it, how is he not fit….turkey finished their season after us, he went to St George’s park for fitness. Ok he had a few days off for his wedding but I don’t suspect he ate all the buffet and wedding cake. So how is he not fit and if all these preseason fixtures are about fitness (like most on here suggest) why hasn’t he played. At this rate if we see him again it’ll be October

I'd hate to speculate because there could be a genuine reason surrounding his mental health after it was reported he was homesick last year. But at this point regardless the club need to sort it out

It wasn't just the fee, it was the overall package. He is getting £25k a week at Leeds and we would rather spend that money at the top end of the pitch as we have a good GK already here.

25k a week so not even the full 30k! Looks even more embarrassing for us.

So let's spend it at the top end of the pitch then.. I'll wait with baited breath.

What were we paying him last year?

It was widely touted last week that the £5 million fee was a bridge too far,now the focus has switched and it's his wages that are too much?
