Traore said to a lad that he's only a month away too.

If we get another midfielder, he clearly doesn't rate Doc or Cannon at all. If it's a big, ball winning holding midfield I can completely understand but anything else wouldn't make much sense

He clearly does rate Doc.

Traore might be a month away from training on grass and kicking a ball, but he'll take a couple of months to get to anything like full fitness.

Of course. It's a torn hamstring that required surgery. I don't know where the 6 month timeframe came from though.

I've had a quick Google, and 2-3 months seems to be the norm. Same injury as Allahyar

Fluctuates as to where its torn, to what extent and how invasive the surgery somewhat.

He's also had no kind of pre-season, so could well be discharged by the medical team and still be a month away from realistically staking a claim.

I'm no expert and not trying to be but a 6/7 month lay off just seemed a lot.

If he's given a squad number and announced before the weekend then he may have a chance of being back before January.

We've since brought in 4 midfielders and want another, it seems pretty likely that his time here is done

Not necessarily. He offers something different that can give the more technical lads a platform.

He won't be going anywhere for awhile yet and he will get games.

Suspect before his injury they would have considered a decent offer if the SPL interest materialised into an acceptable bid and the player wanted to leave.

I don't think he was ever on the 'disposal' list though.

I just don't see how he gets a sniff.

Pelkas will be the no.10, with Seri and Tufan behind. That leaves Slater and Salah when fit on the bench. And if there's another one coming in, then he's even further behind in the pecking order. There's Traore to come back too, hopefully in November

EDIT: Forgot about Woods

He’s a managers dream, probably one of the most physically capable midfielders in the league and with a run of games or appearances in his best role I think he’ll be a valuable squad member. He’s never been a sitting midfielder in his career and that’s where he was played last season in his first season in the championship. Start of the season when he was played more advanced he was much better and was recognised on here for doing so. Think when OLM totalled MOTM’s he had 3 that all came pre october, then Honeyman returned and he was pushed deeper

Clearly, when everyone's fit he doesn't start, but we still need a squad and his legs at the end of games when seeing it out are a real asset.

But who does he get in the side over or even the on the bench over?

Depends who's available on any given matchday. Very rare to have everyone fit and available. There'll be World Cup casualties also. You're over-thinking it based on a perfect world which very rarely is actually the case at any given time.

Won't be going anywhere this window anyway cos he's injured.

Who said he is behind anyone?.

First choice midfield 3: Seri, Tufan, Pelkas
Second choice midfield 3: Woods, Slater & Salah

Another maybe one more too. Plus I've excluded Alfie.

I just can't see it. A bench of 7 doesn't give many opportunities

5 subs though gives more opportunity for game time.

If everyone's fit going into Jan and all the new boys are successful, they'll probably re-evaluate then.

But that's a lot of 'ifs' at this stage.

5 subs does give more opportunity but there's likely to be 2 defenders, 2 midfielders and 2 attackers on there. It's not a lot of opportunity to actually get on the bench.
