Interesting to see that we have turned our attention to domestic transfer targets instead of from the Turkish league to pick up a defensive midfielder. The fee to Birmingham won't come cheap either. His experience and work rate will be invaluable, replacing Smallwood has been a tricky and expensive task.

He's not a Smallwood replacement though. A different type of player completely from what I've seen.

We're clearly going for a possession based side because he's another midfielder who can control a game.

He's not the ball winning midfielder we need though but we're really short in midfield so we could do with a few

I remember sharing a beer or two with them in Beijing, along with a hundred or so other City fans. Great days!
 
I know I absolutely shouldn’t base judgements on appearance, but having a ginger haired central midfielder who works hard makes me think of Stephen Quinn…and I can’t stop it filling me with hope!

Agreed.Slater's a decent player with a good work rate,he's one of the few so far this season who look up to speed.

I’d prefer him to be a replica of the player I was once attached to (not in an emotional way).
