Was at the u21s game tonight, Merthan Acil present at the game and is always at Cott. Is he the long term replacement for Lee Darno? That’s just what I’ve heard wondered if anyone knew his role

Funnily enough, most Turks today have little Central Asian Oghuz DNA. They are, for the most part, descended primarily from Anatolian Greeks who assimilated to Oghuz Turkic culture and converted to Islam in the centuries following the Byzantine loss of Anatolia.

The average Turk is closer genetically to the Greeks across the Aegean than they are to their linguistic relatives in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
I always say my West window has all the exuberance of Chaucer, without, happily, the comcomitant crudites of his period. :emoticon-0100-smile

Just a thought but this number 10.... not involved for his club at the weekend (HDM) Tosun at Everton? Big wages id expect but would obviously fit with our club....

Our own Turkish owner apparently has Azerbaijani roots on one side...would that make him more Turkish than the average Turk then?

On the keeper signing, I'm surprised he's being signed as a first teamer at the age of 19 (his signing being treated as our 9th summer signing) and was the reason I was questioning the high profile nature of it in the past week. Would presumably mean there's no intention to loan him out but I guess we'll see once Baxter's fit.

We are delighted to announce the signing of goalkeeper Thimothée Lo-Tutala after agreeing compensation with Tottenham Hotspur.

The 19-year-old French shot stopper has penned a three-year deal, with the club holding the option of an extra year.

I think any France u19 international we signed would be regarded as a first team signing.

From what I read pre tournament, they were the favourite to win the u19 Euros which England won and their squad was supposedly stacked. I'm not French youth fan so I can't really comment on the strength but he was their first choice keeper.

However, had we signed any of the England u19s squad, never mind starters, they'd be considered a pretty significant signing.
