This was my concern when we first heard him zipping around negotiating on deals personally. Felt out of step with how the club should be operating, with the manager or head of recruitment doing that, Acun providing the funds. Would be quite rare to have an owner who is involved in that. I think Boehly is at Chelsea somewhat and is being criticised for doing so.
My next big concern is what manager we end up with next if Shota is deemed surplus to requirements. Acun has a long list of Turkish managers he’s mates with…

Also what happens if Tufan never gets fit and Shota refuses to play him? Does Acun get annoyed that one of his signings isn’t being played? Excited but also cautious for the future. I know it’s only pre season but watching today made me really detached from the side, that midfield is such a drop off from what alot of us admired last season. TWT massively for me now but I’m nowhere near as excited or optimistic. Think we’ll be lucky to finish 14th at our current rate

I think detached is the perfect word for it. Changing so much of the squad at once, outside of Baxter, Greaves and maybe Ally, I just have no attachment to any of the players, and it just feels such a different side to last season, and not for the better just yet.

and Ingram, Mcl/ Jones, Coyle, Elder/Fleming, Slater, Longman

I look forward to the game where we start Ingram and Baxter at the same time. <laugh> I was rattling off the names I assume will be in our best XI, not the entire squad. But yes, Slater, Fleming, Jones, Doc, Longman are others that will be good to see and hope they have good seasons.

In a friendly you have to actually.. I dunno.. practice what you want to do during the season, otherwise the players may as well just do laps around the MKM if it's purely for fitness. You don't need to measure pre-season on number of wins and losses, but structural things like chances created, shots, goals, etc. demonstrate how the side is working together, how effective the game style is, and things like that.
Surely the reason you practice is that you don't yet know the routine fully

Just remember that under Allam

- Honeyman would have left anyway
- KLP would have been sold for less
- KLP money would have been trousered
- Our squad would have been updated with more frees of the quality of Moncur/Cannon etc
- Attendances this season would struggle to hit 10,000
- We would be preparing for a season of ridicule and a scrap at the bottom

Is anyone surprised that a brand new team with so many new faces is struggling to hit the ground running?

I’m not convinced by Shota but he needs to be given a chance as does Tufan (the new boo boy after a pre-season)!

Enjoy the ride - we’re on the way up but it won’t be in a vertical line, it’s going to take time.

Yep you're not wrong about any of those points. I think your last sentence is the most important to remember.

I think the Tigernation can sometimes be impatient and it’s what we need this season. We have a difficult start to the season and fear that the atmosphere may turn toxic after 6 games which we might do well to win one of.

100% this.

We knew this summer would bring a lot of changes and while we can all dream, anyone who genuinely expects that we are going to be promoted at the first time of asking is deluded, especially after last season. A comfortable mid-table position would be a successful start to the Acun era in my eyes. Sadly some of our new players are being written off already - especially Tufan who people were moaning about after a few minutes against Fenerbahce. The guy barely played for the whole of last season; does he not deserve a chance to get up to speed ffs?

While I struggle to find any positives from the 3-0 defeat yesterday, that’s our only real cock up of pre-season. Leicester are a quality premier league side and they played us, a largely new championship team, off the park. If we show nothing in the opening league games then you have to start asking questions, but let’s not write them off before they have played a competitive minute of football. Bring on next Saturday, I for one can’t wait to get behind the boys.

A bit more on how Shota wants us to play..

"I'll also use a 5-3-2 because now I can, the Tigers head coach told Hull Live. "Last season I couldn't, and it meant that Keano was the wing-back - our best player. Since I arrived, I never moved him or took him off, he played every minute. He scored seven in nine, before I came, here played 29 times and scored five.

"We're not like a Chelsea that can change systems (regularly), even Paris St Germain."

Having already signed Colombian frontman Oscar Estupinan and talks well underway with another forward player, City's ranks have been boosted this summer, with Arveladze pleased with his latest arrival.

"Tetteh can play as a striker, or on the wing and wide," said the Georgian. "He's very mobile and it means we can play with two strikers, it gives us options. With Keano, it is difficult to play two up front, so he's not really a striker who can play with his back to goal. Now we have the ability to play with two strikers."

I suggest that getting worried about how **** Arveladze’s successor will be is getting a bit carried away. A bit like worrying about not having enough to fill your day when you retire from work.

Oh dear. So he wants to continue to play with 5 at the back. That’s worrying for me, as I know it is for others. I hope he proves me wrong.

One of the few times I remember 5 at the back working was under Bruce, when we had Robertson etc.

Is this a new quote?

Are you blaming Orange for you getting it wrong? That’s a bit sporty.

Where did I get it wrong? I said the post Orange quoted did not say what he claimed it did. Or do you expect me to read every post across the various threads to guess at what post Orange is actually trying to respond to?

You said he hadn’t said it, when in fact he had (you just hadn’t seen it), that’s where you got it wrong.

He hadn't said it in the post being quoted. <doh> If Orange had quoted the relevant post then of course that's different. Yes I was wrong that CT had actually said it in another thread but that wasn't the post being quoted.
