Hope you're right. We were wafer thin last night.

We really were. We've only got 4 midfielders right now, last year we had 8 and they all got solid bits of gametime.

As of right now, we'd be stronger with Honeyman & Smallwood still in the squad. I'm not saying they were the right players to take us forward but they have yet to be replaced

Forwards seemingly still being spoken about is a tad worrying to me, we need midfield reinforcements and a right sided full back more than another winger. Sinik, Allahyar, Longman, Wilks is enough for me would leave it late and potentially sign a loanee or something but much more important positions to us now. After Pelkas if he’s on his way we need some size in that midfield and better competition for Coyle if Williams is only getting 5 minutes

I still think we're pretty short up top, Wilks will be gone soon no doubt and going into the season with 3 wingers is an issue. Goals are key so I think you've always got to overcompensate up top.

We need a lot, we're short at CB too. If we're planning on playing a back 3, 4 isn't enough, especially when the cover is McLoughlin who isn't quick enough to play anywhere but the central CB position. That means Fig has to be pushed out to the right which isn't ideal either. With Alfie's injury record, you know we'll definitely need more cover too

Wilks will go. Scott, Williams and Tyler will go on loan once we're out of the league cup probably also. 2-3 spaces to be filled yet I reckon. Baz saying loans being looked at towards the end of the window.

Yeah to be fair another winger would probably be needed and welcomed with 5 subs. I imagine Wilks T Smith and Cannon to go potentially Williams too if he’s not pushing Coyle for the starting spot he needs to be moved on to bring in someone who’d push him more. Hopefully I’m wrong as I actually think he’s a better wing back.

Pelkas, Winger, 6ft+ ball winner (Ndayishiyme preferably as he’s 2 birds 1 stone) and I think we’ll be looking good. Anymore than that and we’ll be struggling for a while whilst they bed in.

We're going to be a bit knackered early on while they bed in anyway, so I don't really see the difference with 1 or 2 extras. I think 4 is the minimum if we're serious about having any chance at the top 6. Top 10 would still be great.

I wouldn't be surprised if the last few dragged until the last week of the window though. As has been said, it goes mad in Turkey, it's mad over here too so we'll definitely get movement.

I'm gonna say it again but if we kept KPL, Honeyman and Smallwood. I think we'd be a RB away from being good to go.

I’m really interested to see how Sinik and Tetteh get on this weekend, Sinik started pretty season with Antalyaspor so should be upto speed abit more. Tetteh I feel could really be a surprise package.

Ndayishimiye really would be perfect but I think he's out of reach. Apparently they turned down a 7.5m bid in January and if he wasn't injured second half of the season they'd probably be looking at a lot more right now. It was his first game back from injury today, playing in a European qualifier

I'm assuming they'll both get 45 mins against Cambridge.

With Smith going back to Grimsby, they must be pretty confident of another defender coming in very soon.

Wonder what's happening with Emmanuel too, he started pre season and then nothing

Tetteh won’t be able to play as of now as he doesn’t have the correct legal documents yet. Humberside said that’s the hold up with his announcement.

While, you can’t tell a lot from a pre season friendly against a top half premier league team, it was very obvious we desperately need a defensive midfielder. Good though Maddison’s goal was, he walked straight through the heart of the defence unchallenged. First goal, Seri got caught out there and had no one to help, him out. We looked vulnerable every time they had the ball in that area. We need an Ian Ashbee. It would also allow the likes of Seri to play.
We clearly need 4/5 in to make up the squad and they will inevitably arrive. However the key one is this position. I haven’t taken too much notice of the transfer speculation. Are we linked with anyone of that ilk?
Edit: was that going to be Traore’s role?

Completely agree. The midfield was a sieve last year except for Honeyman and is looking that way again. We need a hard-tackling CMF like Ashbee who will make his presence felt. Seri is creative but not the hard tackling type we are lacking. Its going to be a long season unless we fix this obvious deficiency.
