Don't think it's harsh. Jury is still out on Shota, and we'll see how he goes over the first half of this season with no excuses for performances like Bristol City away and a few others last season.

The one game he tried something different apart from 5 at the back with 2 holding midfielders, we got completely picked apart. I think that game is one of the reasons Honeyman is being allowed to leave. He can only play the advanced midfield role

That's the vibe I get. It's almost like the players are like us in not trusting a new manager being brought in who's a mate of the new owner. I guess if the players are turfed and better players come in and they perform then we can't really complain, but we lose a lot of the spirit and vibe of the side. I wonder how players like Ingram, Greaves, KLP, etc. will feel about their mates leaving..

They should make a 5 a side team and play at goals if that’s what they want. I understand the point about the teams morale, but the spirit and vibe of that side got us a 19th placed finish, ultimately because majority of the squad weren’t good enough.

Like most, I liked Honeyman but minus Greaves and KLP (and even them to a degree) they’re all replaceable so we’ll be better off getting rid of anyone who doesn’t fancy it, whether that be down to playing time or not liking the new managers ‘vibe’ and getting in better quality players who do want to play for the manager. It looks like that might be what Acun is thinking as well.

Guess we'll see how much some of the new signings fancy it halfway through the season, hopefully they're up for it.

The team from last season would not win this league nor I think it would be a top 6, something needed to change. McCann was limited in tactics etc, something that was posted many times by many different posters in here. Greaves will learn so much more from the lad who was at Forrest, maybe even the dark arts lol. If the midfielders brought in are any where near as good as we’re being told it’s exciting times. I love the look of seri from Fulham, no way we would get a player like that under the last owners. There is a worry that 10+ players brought in together at the same time will take a time to gel, I get that but oh my ****ing lord are we gonna have an exciting season and I for I will go to as many games as possible. Take a seat, hold on tight it’s gonna be a brilliant ride…..

I don't get the idea that we are tearing apart a team full of heart. We had a terrible season, we lacked quality and in some areas also lacked heart. Big changes had to happen, not sure if Shota is the guy but he certainly did no worse than McCann last season.

Did we have a terrible season? I think we lacked talent and ability at the top of the pitch and failed to create enough chances for goals but we had a top half defence and on the whole performed quite well against expectations. I don't think the squad needed an entire overhaul.

One thing worth thinking about - with so many potential internationals in the new squad, there will be times when we are missing a lot of our first-choice players

We'll only be missing them over international breaks when there's no Championship games.

Agree that the squad "performed quite well against expectations", but the cold truth is that if we want to seriously challenge the top end and have even half a chance of going up, the squad did need a major overhaul. The reality is that we were lacking in so many respects - goals, nous, pace, strength, depth, quality, ....
Pity that Honeyman himself has chosen not to be part of it but that's his prerogative and we move on, most likely with better.

The GMcann "heart" brigade can all go for me, clearly don't have as much heart as people think if they are scared stiff of ambition and improvement. Send the lot to posh I will not be losing sleep over a set of bozos who valued the Sandy Row man over Hull City AFC. Also realistically none of them are actually good enough.

I remember suggesting that Honeyman not having the ambition to fight for a spot wasn't becoming of a professional and being castigated for it.. ;)

It still feels like they didn't agree with letting Grant go. They all seemed an extremely close and tight-nit group.
The whole plan to replace McCann was done long before he had his nice wins just before he was let go. It’s not a secret that we were on a **** run, & they were the cause of it. Yes they pulled out some decent results after, & towards the end, but it was too little, too late!
I’m not convinced on Shota, but he’s got to be given a chance, it’s going to be hard, but hopefully the new players & the ones left will kick on & we can move up. The one thing for sure is, despite everything, it’s never dull in Hull!<cheers>

Callum Elder should go if he did actually spill all this to a fan. Lots of people don’t like their bosses but telling strangers in a bar whilst pissed “we all hate the gaffer and think the owner will ruin the club” is definitely grounds for dismissal.
