well yeah get rid of nearly all of the ****ehawk grant men from before and we will see improvements. People need to realise we finished 19th with all these players. Any emotional attachements need cutting. Honeyman realistically not good enough so there’s no doubt in my mind the docs/williams/coyles/maccas aren’t good enough to be anymore then mid table or high bottom half.
Useful squad players though, some of them at least. Can't build a whole new squad in a single window.
i respect that so trying to tone down a bit but I can’t stress enough they need filtering out the squad pronto. None of them will be championship footballers after their career with us I’m sure of it.
Protected in the 3-5-2/3-4-3 to exploit his attacking ability. Will get that experience wouldn’t bother investing in that side, right side however we could probably do with a new face
I think Macca has done extremely well and was one of the few to end last season with his head held high. Did well against Leicester too. Williams I haven’t seen enough of to form an opinion, one of those “you never know” situations.
I really don’t get the hatred some have for Grant’s side he assembled. Left it all out on the pitch every game and stayed up comfortably in the end last season despite a lot thinking they’d get relegated.
i think we under performed last season under both McCann and Arveladze. I thought the squad we had was capable of doing better but still easily within the bottom half. I think holding on to some of the squad (if they wanted to stay) would have smoothed the transition. But because Honeyman, Eaves, KLP wanted out we’ve had to fast track the amount of changeover we would have preferred. It just means the time it takes for this squad to settle will be longer but I expect us to be comfortable in the top half this season.
I've got nowt against any of them. They were limited but gave their all once we got rid of the ones who downed tools in 19/20. Felt we got value from them. I've got more of an issue with the overpaid underperformers from the Silva, Slutsky and Adkins periods who contributed to us getting relegated on a £20+ million wage bill.
Any notion that we underperformed last season is complete bollocks. We had 2 gaffers, both of whom have had a solid amount of success in their careers to date, one of, if not, the lowest wages bills in the league and we couldn't spend a penny in the transfer market. We did well to stay up and I think under Shota we were something like 14th in the form table during his tenure, which is actually pretty impressive.
Agreed. We were definitely in the bottom 3 wage bills so anything other than relegation was success if you think about it.
