I deal with many very successful people in Turkey, they're neither corrupt, nor mates with Erdogan.

Obviously many high profile businessmen in Turkey will have connections to Erdogan and there will be some who are involved in dodgy deals, but to label an entire nation as corrupt is ridiculous. Exactly as it would be if someone in Turkey made the same claim about the UK.

I don’t think there’s anything shady about him at all, I just think what this ex player heard was completely the wrong end of the stick.
But I’m glad it generated discussion.
I was merely making the point that because of the business culture in Turkiye (and a lot of Europe), some of his practices are likely to be frowned upon in the U.K.

So let me get this straight, we slated the Allams for not investing in the team and squad, for pocketing money from sales to repay their 'gift'. But now we have an owner who is doing his level best to invest in the team, to bring high level football back to the city, and yet there are still people who moan cos he is spending too much ? Ya couldn't make it up ! The guy may be excitable, and has a dream like we all have, but he aint no daft lad, he's been around football and football clubs a long time, he has associates and friends in high positions of certain football clubs, do you really think he is over stretching beyond what he and the club can afford without due diligence, c'mon ladies and gents, stop with the hysteria ! And enjoy it for what it is, Instead of looking for the negatives all the time. It seems some here aren't happy unless they're moaning !

Really well put.

Thought Tetteh might have been announced before the game, didn't someone post that he was at the ground yesterday doing the photo shoots?

So in that case, Pearson takeover was leveraged because he borrowed the funds from Wilkinson. Most takeovers will be leveraged using that definition.

Quite possibly. I don't know why you think that leveraged is a dirty word.

As I started by saying, it's quite an effective way to unlock the income of the PL, but if things go wrong, it's not so good. There's a reason Pearson sold us in the Championship, he didn't have the money to push on to that final step.

I don’t care if Acun makes dodgy deals as long as it benefits Hull City and we don’t get caught.

Not that it's likely here, but think this is a piss poor attitude personally. Derby fans likely said the same about Morris. Challenging and always ensuring that a club's owner is doing things in the best interest of the club in the long term, not just the short term, is a fan's responsibility. Acun is likely doing nothing wrong so it's not an issue in this case, but to have the above attitude is a dangerous one.

I think it likely wouldn’t matter a tiny **** what attitude any of the fans have.

It mattered in 2014 when we blocked the attempt to change our name?

Wouldn't hold that up as a happy ending.

He has a point, and MM's financial decisions capsized that club. Not FFP. And he may well have been successful if they'd won a couple of games.

1moreagain said something sensible (for a change) when he said all promotion pushes are a risk unless you're owned by a Saudi Prince or Russian Oligarch.

Of course they are. And again, if it works out then there's no issues. I'm just curious at the 2-3 timescale put on promotion by Acun when it really feels like if some of the players don't work out, the funds are only there for a big push this year or next.
