Jones 25 year old 230 apps for Liverpool 150 Premier league games - Can play most midfield roles

I get there is usually an English tax but he seems a much more value for money signing than the fees touted for Anderson and Wharton albeit slightly different roles

I think I've lost track of what a reasonable fee is for an English player.
I think the market has been speeding up in the last 5 years or so, so it has become increasingly difficult for our minds to keep up with the inflation.

In this particular case I think the player is probably worth that sort of fee, he's young enough to still add to his game, should retain most of his value even if he doesn't kick on.

If we look at Brighton as an example to follow, the majority of their signings are under £30m and they're always on long contracts and are young enough to keep getting better, a complete contrast with the Mags signing Wissa which is just money down the drain.

Would not doubt yourbword on this one, but think he'll be expecting a little bit more than us. Should see it as the challenge of his life. Come to a club where he could become a great.

Reactions: Smug in Boots
We've a dozen players like Browne coming back who won't feature in our next season squad. As much as we want a few in,moving them out is going to be just as important.

i'd be surprised if we can't get close a million for him, there has to be a dozen Championship teams who could use an experienced and versatile player like that.

I am actually surprised Boro dont want him back. He seemed to be a very popular player there amongst their fans
Think it might be an issue of wages. Was reading that because of promotion increases, he'd be their highest earner if he signed for them. Might be an issue for us moving him on - think he's a solid player but not sure he's top end Championship wages quality. He might need to take a cut to get a move.

What's happened to SAFC, in a few seasons, is quite incredible.

Imagine the massive pall of gloom that would've hung over the SOL if, in the same period ...

... we'd sold Bellingham, Stewart, Jack Clarke and Tommy Watson, oops we did.

Yet, in truth, we rarely give them a second's thought, what a transformation.

If the progress of the last few years continues in the next it could be truly incredible.

One of the reasons I laugh when supporters of other teams say we should be worried about 'bigger' clubs coming after our players.

We have a plan, probably more than one, on how to replace them. Similar to how Brighton, Bournemouth and Brentford do it but our ceiling is much higher.
