He was defo second choice to Christie until he ****ed his knee.

Either way, the hate is over the top. Coyle just needs to be given rests at times. He was very poor back end of the season but he’d played nearly every game no doubt with injuries

It just doesn't seem likely that we're going to regularly play with one full back who's a complete defensive liability and another who is rash and has one brain-fart a game.

A few weeks under SJ, doesn't change players. But I do think there's a lot of sense in playing a back 3, it reduces the defensive role from both and would allow us to play 2 forwards. I think it's logical under Millar and Belloumi are back anyway

I think the midfield shape / personnel will allow full backs to get forward more. Slater, Crooks and Lundstram will do the hard yards to cover for them.

Not going to happen. Not on a regular basis anyway. Just read the room. He's all about fullbacks getting crosses in.

He had no choice. It was part of the deal when he bought him.
And we needed cash up front to fund last year's spending.

Villa were always going to match whatever we had agreed elsewhere within reason, as their sell on basically meant they could flip him themselves to said club for a quick profit, as is what eventually happened.

Feel like creativity in the middle is less important. He wants dynamic work horses to be up and down, bit like Klopps liverpool (funnily enough as he referenced to liking him yesterday) who will likely cover for them getting forward. Lundstram, Slater/Crooks and Gelhardt will be our starting midfield should Joffy sign. That gives us intensity and quality to platform our wide players to get forward with intent

In all probability, we'll still struggle in front of goal, hopefully not to the extent of last year. But we're still going to need to be defensively solid, and you can't cover for 2 leaky full-backs, I think you can cover for one.

Pre-season is a difficult one to read too much into (as long as it isn't a horror show), as it's just for minutes. If Cov stick 3/4 past us, a positive pre-season is completely forgotten.

Just reading around the Zambrano case and it says (some AI research involved) that he can train with the club prior to the end of his ban.
Been out all day. Has McBurnie signed or what?

Not announced yet. Neither has Gelhardt. No news on our appeal. Just news about a Hughes bid from Coventry.

Just a typical day in the life of a City fan.

I don’t think Drameh is a leaky full back on the whole. Championship players for the most part have one brain fart a game, that’s usually why they’re championship players and not premier league.

I’ve seen Drameh have a winger on toast the whole game and then try and shepard the ball out for a corner, get pickpocket and concede a goal.

Yep and he’ll only have that out his game by playing. Coyle was getting turn my inside out by most he faced at one point last season but was also POTY quality under Walter it happens. That’s why they’re championship not premier league

He's made 70 championship appearances, though so that should be out of his game.

I don't think either Drameh or Giles have had success anywhere in this division whilst playing as a fullback; all their successes have come as wing backs and you can see they both suit that position more.

Name a player who hasn't ****ed up.

As NT rightly.states, that's why they're playing in the championship.

Im not having a go at Drameh, I think he’s a fantastic 1 on 1 defender, possibly the best we’ve got. I feel more secure with him in the team as opposed to Coyle as you just waited for him to be exposed with his lack of pace.

Coyle had to rely on reading the game and using his physicality.

Nonsense. Development isn’t linear, there is no rule book / strict pattern for it. Greaves had over a 100 champ appearances playing every week and still made them. Drameh has the potential to be a good full back too. He was arguably MOTM in a back 4 against the Blunts this year. He just needs consistent game time.

Maka and Jones over 100 each and still made them. With plenty more around it too. He’s champ for a reason and it’ll get fewer and further apart the more he plays
