They’ve had months to make a real offer. We obviously think he’ll have another goal scoring run like last season and someone else with buy him for more than what they were offering. Probably not close to what we were asking as his contract ticks down but more than their stupid time wasting bids

Or this might flush them out ?

That said - team behind him will be weaker so he might not do as well

Awaiting the furious reaction from people assuming this is us being bitten by the multi club model. I don’t see it this way. We are avoiding having to sell at what we consider below market rate

Selling for what they offered will actually negatively impact PSR anyway as I’m pretty sure it would show as an accounting loss (as well as it just being a headline loss anyway)
Agreed, this is where the multi-club stuff clearly helps us out by getting at least some of his wages off our books. He'll be 31 and going into the last year of his contract next summer so we won't get much of a fee for him even if he has a great season.

In fairness to Trabzonspor, Turkish clubs don't seem to pay particularly big fees and I've seen reports suggesting what they offered for Onuachu would have made him their club record signing. Their current record fee paid only seems to be about 7 million euros.

He will only have one year left after this season so doubt he value will go up at all.
Point being that he will be at €6m in the books rather than €12m. The current offer would net a loss of at least €5m if not more (from a PSR perspective).

It will be smaller next year. I’m sure it’s a bit more complicated give amortisation costs and wages that we account for when he stays but don’t if he was sold

But suffice to say someone doing the sums presumably thinks it isn’t worth it to sell him for what we’ve been offered

The loss would be the same, it would just be split in each year rather than in this one year if we sold now. Plus we would have to pay his wages for another season (with a small Goztepe contribution).

I still think we are hoping they come in with a bigger offer at the end of the window.

Great at beating his man and then doing **** all with it! He's had plenty of chances - he's just not good enough for the PL. I wish him well, but right time to move him on.
We’ll yeah that’s been obvious for a while I guess. We’ll see if he returns if there is no buy option, but does look like is time is up!

I think that's a decent result all round. Other than the possible language barrier this is quite similar to the Rangers deal that fell through. Lots of games where the team will mainly be attacking weaker opposition mixed in with some tougher European games.

I think he’ll find he can understand Belgians speaking English more than he will listening to Glasgow English.
