I think a big up front deduction might have a moral issue and a potential recruitment impact. Will see with Leicester but nothing has been announced yet on that so new players don’t know for certain
So whilst you can look at a table as say that in hindsight a 10 point deduction might be fine - it might not work out that way if it is right at the start of the season
Possibly, the reverse is also true where it motivates the players who feel wronged by a points deduction. As I say Everton already have a good enough team to survive so recruitment isn’t such a big deal compared to promoted teams
With how long appeals etc take it seems like it’s basically impossible for a team to have it at the start of the season when the accounting window finishes on the 30th of June. 6 weeks til the start of the season to review the accounts of the team and figure it all out then the inevitable appeal process
