Yeah zero chance that happens. They will get someone in who buys them and carry on finishing 17th-14th

Right now it’s odds on the three promoted teams go straight back down

You buy 30 players like Forest did, accept that you will break the rules once and get a nothing points deduction, then sort it out after that.

If you go down then you have a couple of years with parachute payments to come back up and repeat the cycle before you are really punished by the FL.

The whole thing is stupid, but so is football anyway and we just got sucked in years ago so still care

Didn't realise that O'Hare had signed for Sheffield Utd. Presumably the interest from us was just paper talk/or we don't think he's a player that can make the step up and would have only wanted him should we have failed to get promoted.

No one wants to buy them as they are riddled with debt and contractual agreements around fonished BMD stadium.

Considering how long it takes to buy a club, and the talks are over with 777 group, sk they'd be starting from scratch, they could well be relegated before i buyer is found. If they go down they will be worth bugger all.

I'e noticed a little more transparency from the club on transfer plans since Martin has been here.

It's refreshing to see. There is no point fobbing us all off with a generic answer about "seeing what happens". Most fans would have guessed this is what is happening with KWP but its good to have it confirmed we have offered him a deal and still want him to stay despite the arrival of Sagawara.

Fingers crossed no one comes in with an offer that interests him and he signs a new deal.

He’s not wrong. It’s a clumsy analogy because in overall football terms the guy isn’t a Ferrari. But if the point is that people are offering 10-20% of the sticker price (which is what he is saying) then that is fair enough

Can see the Onuachu situation ending up like Carrillo, another loan this season. Hopefully to a league where they actually have some money to maybe buy him

They won’t get a points deduction this year as they avoided FFP by their dealings with Villa. Onana is leaving for £50m as well so they will bring some players in new owners or not

So far they have only lost a youth striker I believe, if they sell Onana then that may mean they can keep everyone else. Their team is still miles better than any of the promoted sides as it is, and Dyche is a very competent manager in bottom half PL scenarios so I’d be shocked if they went down this year.

I imagine the Turkish clubs will be looking to just wait it out and see if we fold. If nobody else comes in for him we'll have a decision to make. He's just come off the back of a good season, so if he doesn't get any more interest now off the back of that, then he's not likely to have much more interest after another loan, so do we just sell even though it's only supposed to be about a €6m offer. Turkish transfer window closes after ours does too I think.

It must be really galling to sell your best players to Villa as Everton because realistically they should be in the same bracket of clubs. Old, established and solidly below the “top clubs”. Up until recently when they have deviated significantly with Villa cracking the champions league and Everton falling apart

I wonder how much Everton were relying on getting 70m “profit” on Braithwaite. As it seems like Man United have finally seen sense and decided they don’t want to be overcharged by the likes of Everton (they still might of course but they’ve spent big on another defender).

Since the plan seemed like they were going to sell both that potentially leaves them a 70m shortfall in their accounts / budget. The way the amortisation works that is multiple signings they potentially won’t be able to make. If indeed the money wasn’t just going to be to offset losses

What is the situation with Turkish clubs. Loads of players on big contracts seem to go there on free or loan. So they have money for wages but not big transfer fees that these high wage players usually come with

Surely Onuachu would dominate Saudi defences and his salary would be chicken feed. But I haven’t heard anything about big Saudi transfers. Are they all maxed out on overseas signings ?

Villa are going through the stage Everton did with Moshiri where their minted owner is spending big. Obviously big difference is Villa are doing it well where as Everton completely ****ed it over a 4/5 year period bringing in so many bad players for huge money. It really was a graveyard for players at that time, not a single player in about 5 years went to Everton and got better

If you look back at their transfer history from about 2017 or so onwards it’s a car crash

As you pointed out before the best way to get around FFP is actually to spend and take the deduction but because you’ve spent your team should be in a position where it doesn’t really matter, especially if your goal is just to remain in the PL like it is for 10+ teams in the division. Until they actually give a team a proper punishment nobody is going to be bothered by it and with the gap between the Champ and PL getting wider every year you could probably take a 10 point deduction if you are Everton and still survive pretty comfortably

I think a big up front deduction might have a moral issue and a potential recruitment impact. Will see with Leicester but nothing has been announced yet on that so new players don’t know for certain

So whilst you can look at a table as say that in hindsight a 10 point deduction might be fine - it might not work out that way if it is right at the start of the season

I don't think they are definitely in the clear even with the Villa dealings. Those transfers are still under investigation by the PL as it is pretty clear they were dodgy (https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2024/06/24/premier-league-psr-chelsea-villa-chelsea-transfers/).

The £50m is likely going to go towards the stadium or servicing the £200m+ debt.

They are in a bad situation and not a million miles away from administration.
