It's a bit different to the Kane situation. With Kane you know you will never start over him, regardless of how well you do (unless you suddenly become the best striker in the world). Similar to City not being able to keep Alvarez happy as they would never drop Haaland. But at Saints, we won't ever get a striker so good that he is nailed on to start every week that is just undroppable.
We have had so many down the years though. Is it now so impossible to find a striker?

But we are talking about how we would like a big money striker signing or a high value loan. So they would be the first choice and in theory undroppable. Especially if they are a transfer record

What`s your opinion of him Bovril ? - you must`ve seen a fair bit of him.
If the PL were of a similar quality to the SPL I'd have him in a heartbeat. It very much isn't though so knowing whether he could make the step up is a hard call. Though to be fair, unless we're suddenly going to find enough cash down the back of the sofa to buy in a proven talent (which we aren't) then the same could be said of all of our targets, however good the YouTube reels are.

How does that work in terms of FFP?

For Juan & Wellington(if true)

The Juan transfer fee would be spread over the duration of his five year contract.
You would think at the very least Goztepe would be covering his wages and potentially to assist saints with FFP they could be charged a loan fee to give saints a net income for this season.

Wellington has no transfer at this stage, so Goztepe would likely cover wages and again a chance of a cheeky loan fee to help boost our FFP

Win - Win

What's happening with Leicesters FFP issue? I don't get how they can pay this sort of money.
I guess they just have to suck up the penalty and will try and spend their way out of the points deduction as a gamble. Which kind of seems opposite to what FFP is trying to achieve. But they got “pure profit” for KDH didn’t they? And so this deal will cost them something like 4m 3.5-4m this year . So they are 26m up this year at least (excluding other deals)

edit : this deal would take their summer spending to about 50m over 5 years that is 10m. So they are showing a 20m profit

We can’t do this as we haven’t sold anyone at a profit yet and seemingly aren’t going to

It really is such bollocks.

It’s insane. Even if they get a 9 point deduction, you can’t tell me overspending won’t get them more than 3 extra wins?

Depends . And doesn’t being in the premier league mean you now get assessed over 3 years in that league. So if they stay up they can try and balance the books over two years

I can’t help but feel one club is going to implode big time despite these rules. And it kind of needs to happen. Because ultimately there is still a cashflow issue and that is what does for most businesses that collapse in the end.

But a lot of these clubs have super rich owners that can ultimately underwrite things but can’t technically spend what they like due to the rules. Probably should just bin them and let clubs go bankrupt if they overdo it. But it seems the rules are actually to keep the top of the league a closed shop rather than to do what they are designed to do. Which is why we could well see a club collapse regardless

That club could well be Everton. They are likely going to get a points deduction this season, and will be selling their best players in order to pay debts and avoid administration. They won't be able to spend on replacements so could well go down. If they get relegated then they won't have the funds to complete their new stadium (think they need another £200m).

If they stay up they'll likely be fine, but depending on the size of their points deduction it could get close.

Their potential new buyers have pulled out too!
