It's one I could see happening if Chelsea are reasonable with their asking price. He's still young and far too early to write him off.

Im not writing him off, he’d still cost £20m or so and hasn’t done basically anything in 2 seasons apart from have a massive injury. It’s a big risk for us to take to put all our eggs in his basket. I’d loan him in with an optional fee and see how he does. That gives us a bit more room to add another striker aswell if we want

Yeah, ideally loan with an option to buy but Chelsea need to sell players by all accounts. Not sure they'd go for that.

Not for the price Chelsea would let him go for at least. If it was like a loan with a view to a £5-10mil purchase then maybe. But chelsea will want £20-25mil which is too much of a gamble.

We’d be better off going for a proven striker from Europe imo

A loan with an optional agreed fee of £20m would be the best scenario. See what he’s like over the season and go from there. The fact he did nothing/barely played for Fulham shows that he isn’t all that. Probably better than all our other current options, but if he’s our main man I would say we will struggle scoring enough goals to survive

Think everyone is in agreement on Broja. Great player for us for a while, but given his record since there is no way we can risk what would likely be our entire striker budget on him. It would only work as a loan, maybe a loan with an obligation to buy if he scores 10 league goals or something similar?

I would assume that if Chelsea want to sell him it will be for the 100% profit from the financial rules. So I don’t see them agreeing to a loan with an option unless it’s late in the window and there has been no interest. And I don’t think we want to wait that long. I’m not sure they’d even accept a loan with an obligation - perhaps for if we stay up and he plays a certain number of games

I think you are right but if they are looking for £20/25m, it won't just be us who look at his past 2 seasons and think that is too much. You'd normally rely on Everton or Forest coming in and taking that sort of risk... but they certainly won't be doing so this window!

I always thought Broja was a bit overrated when he was here. Had a good run of form when the team was doing well, but he didn't start too well (Ralph criticised his attitude early doors, if i remember?) and ended looking like he cared little.

Did little at Chelsea, had a serious injury, loan to Fulham where he again did nothing, and has done little to convince me I'm wrong.

Not for me, thanks.

Yeah, I don't really care what he has done since he was here, I saw enough of a player to take a chance on him if the price is right. He's a very good instictive finisher and could become a top player given the right opportunity.

I think Solak/Sport Republic have put in about £200m and they've only owned us for 2.5 years. They aren't a fancy drink brand but they have invested serious money in us.
Shouldn’t you mention the revenue gained from player sales? It’s not a knock at SR but we need the full picture when discussing these points.

Palace are my dark horses for a top 8 finish. That's a cracking signing.

I didn't mean we have spent £200m, I meant they have invested £200m, possibly including the figure they bought the club for. I can't recall the exact figure but it was in one of Alfie House's articles in the echo.

Yeah I get that but the sales revenue still needs to be included (imo). I’m sure SR / Solak are at a net loss but doubt at this stage it’s £200m. Football club investments are definitely not for profit, that’s for sure.

Because we are in silly season and it's Friday evening. A few realistic transfer targets with PL experience who would be on my wishlist in a RM PL side....
