We have a couple of Greeks in our office (both Panathinaikos fans, as it happens) and one of them told me about Leicester being in for one of their players earlier while we were both in the kitchen. I asked if he was any good and the answer was 'He's our best attacker, he's a big goal threat in Greece but he isn't a Premier League player. That would be a bad way of spending 30m euros for Leicester'

Then I had a couple of meetings, got back to my desk and found out we're now being linked too... <laugh>

Quick gander at transfer market, He has scored 23 goals and registered 9 assists in 44 games.
He is 24 years old, playing in the Greek 1st division.
He's both footed and is 6ft 2.
Out and out CF too.
Had a breakout season last year. Quite tall and powerful (but also with some skill, unlike the other tall, powerful striker bloke). Very much more of a Ricky type player than a Crouch. I'd be pretty happy if we managed this one.

(Plus he wears #7).

So does he stand at nearly 6ft 3' :emoticon-0159-music

Wears no7? Perfect, I need a new hero to match my name.

I would go back to the kitchen so Leicester are linked again :)

Again bullshit.

You obviously didn't like what I said so are making it to be something it wasn't.
I was following on from previous jokey posts on this thread (off topic threads that you've allowed without comment BTW) so what would be the point of putting it on the politics thread?
As has been pointed out, there are plenty of examples of political comments on other threads that you don't remove. And this is the problem with your modding.
If those other posts are about Brexit, Tories, or just about anything you agree with politically it stays without comment from you. You are biased about how you apply the rules.

For anyone else reading this, it's not about the joke or how funny it was or wasn't. It's about double standards. In the joke I said "lefties" not in political point scoring but as a reference to a previous post sometime ago. Nothing worse than that.
If I deleted everything I didn’t like on here it might look a bit different! <laugh>
If you want to continue trotting out sad old political tropes, please feel free to do so. In the place provided. Meanwhile, let’s keep this thread for transfer rumours.

As I’ve said before I think we would’ve needed a huge overhaul window to have a chance of staying up. This isn’t Fifa or football manager so that just wasn’t going to happen. I’ve been consistent since about 10 games into last season in my belief that Martin + PL + Saints = disaster. I will of course see if he changes things and proves me wrong, but for now I think it’s fair to think we are very likely to go down, I don’t think that is pessimistic, just realistic.

For what it's worth I agree. I just don't agree that the squad won't be better heading into this season than it was last season nor that good players just won't want to come here to play.

All sounds very philosophical - isn't there a separate thread for that? :emoticon-0105-wink:

You need to move past this mate.

I bet there’s a lot going on in the “bid preparation” factory that is the St Mary’s boardroom. Printer working overtime. Calculator buttons getting mashed.

I hope Panathinaikos are “braced” for the offer.

Reminds me of pensively checking Ceefax headlines on the Beeb at the turn of the century. Lots of mysterious players being EYED and Saints involved in many a loud (and seemingly confusing) SWOOP!? to no avail :(
