But then we've signed 'disruptive' players before that have turned out to be absolute gems for us.... Bothroyd Chopra McCormack was a nightmare at Villa but great for us before he moved on Sometimes players can just 'fit' can't they - hopefully if we can pull it off, we'll show him enough respect for him to reciprocate. What i would say is, looking at the caliber of players we are reportedly going after, even though many of them are free or loans, the wages we must be needing to offer must be pretty significant - that says that VT must really have bought into Erol's plans, if he is willing to sanction these sorts of deals. That's potentially a massively positive sign after years of cost cutting and getting by, but by God does it put the pressure on Erol to deliver now if he does get the players he wants!!
I agree he could turn out to be a gem. It comes down to the Erol's man management abilities. He has been a bit 'unorthodox ' in that regard. Erol did talk about quality not quantity.
A good track record. 1 goal every 5 games, excellent for a winger. The disruptive element in his time at Mainz came after his public support for the Palestinian cause. Mainz suspended him then kicked him out. On 12th July 2024 a German court ruled he had been unfairly dismissed by Mainz. No mention of any compo but I suspect he has a few Euros in his back pocket. If he can find his form of 3 or 4 years ago (he is 29) he will be an excellent acquisition.
Done and dusted I read. It's all the paperwork that's holding things up. Just as important, what's the injury situation with Collins and Davies?
Never heard of him prior to the last couple of days. Let's hope he's better than most of our previous strikers from abroad.
Can’t say I recall him but yes he needs to want to play rather than going through the motions to bump up his pension
There must be a financial benefit to it. Hertha BSC sign Kanga on a 4 year deal. Then loan him out for part of year 1 and all of years 2 and 3. I know they depreciate a player over the duration of the contract, but does the remainder of the fee hit the bottom line if they part company. If not, why not sell him at a loss or just give him away?
Good news. He did well at Villa before going to Europe. Might be a test of Bulut's man management skills but he must be confident he can work with him
Keith Robson created havoc when he joined Jimmy Andrews team years back, absolutely a candidate for IB’s Twaat Bar! Masky Of Llandaff
A 1 year deal is interesting. Not sure what his salary would be, maybe hedging their bets if he's expensive. Another positive step if his head is in the right space. With the youngsters coming through, though I imagine a few heading out on loan, the core we had, and the new signings, the squad looks quite a bit stronger than at thus time last year.
It'll be interesting to see if Erol sticks with Ramsey in that deeper role. We probably need someone with a bit more pace / energy in there, but Ramsey as a 'quarter back' might be part of the solution.
