Another one to keep an eye on, but we know Oscar Estupinan's move to FC Juarez in Mexico has gone through and that will be announced in the vert near future. That's a permanent deal and one where City will get a seven-figure fee for the Colombian international striker.

Even £1 million for Oscar is amazing business.

Not as close as expected or Hamburg playing games to try and eke out a bit more money out of us.
He still needs to train, for me does not make one bit of difference the fact he’s training I’ve a feeling he’ll be a city player over the international break

Anyone else a bit underwhelmed by Meffert? I know we need some experience but I'd like to think we could do better... Clearly this one is for Walter, similar to signing someone like Allsop for Rosenior last year.

I agree, but if it was close he would be over here for a medical. An agreement could be done today and he flies over for the medical but it doesn’t feel as imminent as first suggested.

Wonder with the club not announcing Cooper, they're looking at another CB? Cooper is a free agent so no rush and means we can still shop around until the last minute and gives us the flexibility to move if someone becomes available. Only a thought.

Meffert is a known quantity. Not only to Walter but he has been a key player for Hamburg over the last 3 seasons.

He is a consistent performer and holds Hamburg together as a team.

While he is not as glamorous as Zambrano and Puerta and hasn’t got the future potential, he is the player I feel will transform us. We have been so easy to play through, and lack control in games - Meffert is the player I feel will change this.

I fully agree we need that type of player in that position, thats exactly why I hoped we'd go for a better player. It's a key position for us that we've not really had for the last few seasons.

The key to this one is Kamara wants to come to us. We seem to be close to Norwich’s valuation so imagine he will definitely be coming in.

…but Meffert won’t need to adapt to our style. He can hit the ground running. And an excellent player for a top team in the German second tier - not sure if we can do much better than that at this moment in time.

I think it’s better to go for him than an unknown Premier League loan, or a high potential player from a lesser league. Any current Championship player will also cost a lot more - this is a smart signing budget and experience wise.

There is a reason that Man City's win/loss percentage changes when Rodri plays, as amazing and impactful Haaland, KDB etc are that 'holding' midfield role is possibly the most important for most teams.

I saw Man City play in person last season. I was looking forward to seeing Foden, Haaland and De Bruyne in person. I left in awe at Rodri.

He wanted and took the ball all the time. Even with a player on his back he wanted it, took the ball and just held off his opponents, before playing an accurate pass. He sniffed out danger time and time again, and just got Man City on the attack.

Meffert isn’t exactly this but he would be our Championship version.
