Seems like with Puerta almost in, it'll be Estupinan out, then a right winger and striker in. I'd have everything crossed for Kamara on a permanent and Stansfield or Al-Hamadi on loan.

I'm hoping we still have another 4/5 to come in.

Puerta
Meffert
Oscar replacement
Winger, hopefully 2

As for the final loan, if we're getting someone from the prem, I think there's more quality wingers available. Off the top of my head Cannon, Al-Hamadi, Stansfield and Lankshear are probably the best of those available. It really is slim pickings this year

I get what people are saying. There comes a point though when you need to stop getting rid of every player the previous manager had. It's odd to me. I can't help it feeling odd to me. Dismantling the spine of a squad in one summer is strange.

I doubt anyone will disagree with you.

There was so much to put right though from the last regime (and to be fair, even legacies from the ones before that even). There really wasn't much of a foundation left to build on when the season ended this May. The squad was incredibly unbalanced in so many important respects. The best players were on loans to us, with little to zero chance of us keeping them. Our 2 best players were pretty much nailed on to be leaving. All in all, it was an absolute mess.

The club have imo done a great job in moving out a lot of players that needed to go. Some were good professionals that we can hope flourish elsewhere (in lower divisions), others less so.

I think the club are now doing a great job in terms of the rebuild. It's being done far differently to how it was done under Rosenior and the earlier recruitment team. A lot of previous issues are finally being addressed, from leadership, to physicality, to balance within the squad, etc etc. More work to be done, and some of the signings of course might not work out in practice, but to me it's like night versus day. I suspect that's down to some harsh lessons learned (by Acun, Tan, Beri and others involved) but also, importantly, to Tim Walter i.e. I think we are seeing the benefit of having a coach who has 'managerial' experience, not just ideas & smart talk.

The frustration has of course been that it's taken so long for players to start coming in and consequently we are / risk playing serious catch up. But hopefully the frustrations will prove worth it as we seem to be now building something that really does mean, finally, we don't have a massive rebuild every season and we have a squad that is much more balanced, that includes a number of on the field 'leaders', has more nous, physicality, etc to go along with the technical ability.

We may well have to be a bit more patient though till the end of this window and for it all to click. We'll surely see big progress after the international break, and I expect there'll be further strengthening in January and next summer. Acun has to date got so much off the field stuff going in the right direction, and to me it now feels like we are finally seeing things going in the right direction in terms of on the field too.

Gustavo Puerta is Hull City's new signing. Bayer Leverkusen loan him out for a year with an obligation to buy if certain objectives are met. In a few hours, he will travel to England.

It’s an option not an obligation

This kid looks quality. You dont play 10 times for Leverkusen last season if you're not.

Him and Zambrano in midfield should be something special hopefully.

He reminds me of Gustavo Hamer at Blunts. Small, but tenacious, excellent passing range, loves a screamer. He’s the one I’m most excited about
