I saw this guy post on X over the weekend about this so I subbed to his YouTube channel. One of the better football podcasts I’ve watched. The host and guest were both very knowledgeable and articulate. The guest especially was really informative and turns out he’s an Ecuadorian City fan who started following the club after studying at Hull Uni.
If I was the club, I'd be reaching out to someone so knowledgable....

Given this is his old home ground, I wouldn't be too sure on facilities differential!

It’s a big stadium but a big stadium doesn’t necessarily translate to elite or even good facilities in general. The Ecuadorian league doesn’t bring in loads of money. L.D.U. Quito is the biggest club in Ecuador and their President was complaining the other week about how little each club gets from TV rights.

he’s not necessarily a ball-winner. He doesn’t shy away from challenges and gets stuck in but his height and build could be an issue against more physical opponents.
Interesting, videos were kind of opposite, another reason not to believe in skills videos. Antony would be better player than Mbappe according to those.

I know our training ground is a bit of a meme for being crap but even ours should be head and shoulders above the facilities at Ecuadorian clubs.
Is it still same training ground from Premier League days, I did not visit Hull after those years, never had a chance to work there again.

We worried about being able to adopt a Brentford style model, cashing in on the odd player to progress the squad. With Greaves and Philogene leaving people wondered who would be a next big saleable asset…Omur?

Sounds like Zambrano could be the next big one based on that podcast. But we are assembling a good, young squad with great re-sale potential. I know that’s not ideal but it’s one of the few ways in which you can compete with the parachute teams.

Feels like we’ve got a 2-3 year plan here to rebuild this squad. I’m liking the look of it so far. Just bring on the strikers!

Bench would look very handy too....

I WONDER IF THERE'S STILL INTEREST IN BOZENIK....
Baz confirmed on 1904 club that Bozenik was all but agreed but he didn’t want to come to the champ

It's been quite a pragmatic summer, it's been very sensible which is unlike the last 2 summers. Zambrano & Puerta are in on essentially try before you buy, not sure if there's a purchase option in Bedia but he looks attainable.

The wage bill has to be substantially down, pretty much all the big earners are gone and you wouldn't imagine the replacements would be on fortunes.

It goes against what Acun has said in the past about spending as much as he's allowed to (I don't think that's a bad thing, this looks to be the best summer recruitment we've had under him on paper). I'd love to know why the change of thought

Drameh
Mehlem
Hughes
Millar
Burstow

All good solid permanent signings
And potential big sell ons if they do well

Throw in a potential buy of zambrano
And it sets us up for the future

Alongside some good loans and it looks much better
We will have quite a young team

It's certainly got the look of a core of a team that can grow together

I am also happy with direction of transfers, but somehow if we can stay at top 10-12 positions until winter window, I am expecting couple of veterans with short loaded contracts, just to chase playoffs. This squad is way too young for stressful weeks.

Their lack of experience is the only real worry, there are a lot of unknowns in the signings because of that. We were never going to have the same level of talent that we finished last season with so it's how fans come to terms with that as the season progresses.

It still feels like we haven't signed the starting striker yet. If I'm right then that signal be the departure of Oscar (E).

Don’t know why people think it’s the end of Oscar because we sign a striker or two even, TW wanted Oscar back he also knows Oscar can score the goals he needs but has not had the service, now that looks to be being solved with the type of players coming in players who can play the ball into the box and create the chances, TW said he liked Oscar and wanted him back if Oscar asks to move still then I suppose he will but I don’t think it is because TW wants a different striker than Oscar he just wants more players to help.
