Would love to know what Tim is planning. Zambrano, Travis, Simons, Mehlem, Slater, Omur and Puerta gives him plenty of midfield options, he just needs to find the right balance. I'm not sure Slater gets a kick
Me neither, off early form it’ll be Simons Mehlem and one of Travis/Zambrano. I was watching a few clips of Puerta earlier and his passing range is something else

If we get Puerta and Travis, I think Omur might be off back to Turkey before the window ends. No inside knowledge, just a hunch.
I think he’ll be much better once we sort out the holding midfield role he won’t have to drop as deep

Local player obligation is relaxed in Turkey and none of the big teams need him. May be Basaksehir. if they qualify European Cups League Stage.

My concern is as good as these players look technically, we're building another lightweight midfield.
Omur - 5'6
Puerta - 5'7
Slater - 5'7
Zambrano - 5'9
Mehlem - 5'9
Travis - 6'0
Simons - 6'0

We probably need at least one of Travis/Simons playing just to stop us getting bullied

I’d hope we always do. Zambrano looks very stocky though so doubt he gets bullied

Bedia would be a decent signing. Not really had chance anywhere but Switzerland and scored goals in Europe.

Only worry would be why he’s never settled and scored goals in France, Belgium or Germany.

Interesting listen on Oscar

I saw this guy post on X over the weekend about this so I subbed to his YouTube channel. One of the better football podcasts I’ve watched. The host and guest were both very knowledgeable and articulate. The guest especially was really informative and turns out he’s an Ecuadorian City fan who started following the club after studying at Hull Uni.

The things I took from that podcast were that Zambrano is more of a deep-lying playmaker than anything else and should be an ideal replacement for an aging Seri. He’s comfortable on the ball, press-resistant, doesn’t dwell on the ball too much and only takes one or two touches at most before making a pass, his ground passing is exceptional and progressive which will suit Walter but he’s not necessarily a ball-winner. He doesn’t shy away from challenges and gets stuck in but his height and build could be an issue against more physical opponents. He’ll need to bulk-up a bit but the Ecuadorian expert on the podcast seems to think the facilities in England are far superior to anything in the Ecuadorian league and so it shouldn’t take too long for him to develop physically. He cited Enciso and a few others having a physical transformation after signing for English clubs. I know our training ground is a bit of a meme for being crap but even ours should be head and shoulders above the facilities at Ecuadorian clubs.

Diego is a great guy. I used to do a City Podcast with him back in the Steve Bruce days. He used to give me tips on South American football when the bookies got it wrong over here. Won some decent money

Given this is his old home ground, I wouldn't be too sure on facilities differential!
