I’m going to go against the grain on here and other social media and say Seri just isn’t what we need at the base of midfield. People are waxing lyrical because he came on second half against Sheffield Wednesday’s second string and set the tempo. He’s 33-years-old, he can’t cover as much ground as he used to when he was younger, he lacks physicality and doesn’t provide good defensive protection for the back four and he just doesn’t suit what Walter wants in a holding midfielder. He’s a good player with loads of technical ability but he has a tendency to hold onto the ball for too long and it has occasionally led to the opposition nudging him off due to his small frame and stealing the ball in areas close to our box. He’s also one of the highest-paid players in the squad. He’s a luxury player who doesn’t suit the new coach’s style of play so we should sell him. I think Meffert would be an upgrade as he’s similar to Seri in terms of technical ability on the ball and is experienced but better defensively, taller, stronger and covers more ground. Plus, we have Simons and Zambrano here as well.

At Seri’s age, a move to Saudi Arabia or Turkey is a no-brainer as the leagues there are less intense, he’ll have more time and space on the ball and will probably end up at a club that will play a ‘destroyer’ next to him in midfield instead of Regan Slater lmao.

I’ll keep saying it, but Seri won more duels than any of our midfielders last year. By a large distance.

I understand the system thing and I agree with you. But if you played Seri as a 8 further up the pitch and maybe Zambrano behind him it could work. Like you say though for the cost of his wages and the manager doesn’t fancy him best to get shot.

That’s because of how poor Morton and Slater were in duels. There’s a reason Fulham fans weren’t bothered when they released him because he’s a liability out of possession.
 
Acun should better invest on us than Fenerbahce, yesterday president of Fenerbahce attacked on pitch by opposition security after he entered the pitch while game is ongoing. It is really a ****-show there. I can't really blame each side. WTF he was doing on pitch at all.

Travis is poor technically though

It's incredibly stubborn that Tim won't change his style to utilise what he has at his disposal best. Just play someone (Simons/Zambrano) alongside Seri and you get the control along with legs.

Puerta was left out of Leverkusen's squad yesterday as well.

Made club captain, comes from Lancashire, signs a long term deal till 2026.
Millwall try to sign him. Then goes on loan to Ipswich last season.
What's gone wrong? Actively looking to get out?
Would seem like a solid signing for us.

Why would he compromise it for someone who likely isn’t going to be here long term?

Also Seri played all of pre season and looked like a shadow of himself
