My Wigan supporting mate says Hughes is due quite a large % of whatever fee he moves for, as part of the new contract he signed when he could've walked for free. Wigan are trying to negotiate with Hughes to lower that % hence the delay. Seems to tie in with what Tan was saying in his interview

If true then Wigan are the classless ones in all this

Maloney's quote was that this last week has been especially hard for Hughes, which is a little odd so it must be close. The speculation has been going on for a few weeks now so that quote stood out to me.

It seems like he wants to come and is just waiting for the green light.

Had anyone else totally forgotten Maloney played for us? Even after looking at his history in Sofascore I couldn’t really remember his games.

Didn't he score second in our 2-0 over Swansea at the start of the season under phelan? That's all I remember him for.

Connolly is a talented footballer. No doubt.
We were told he had baggage, but Rosenior thought he was the man to 'sort' him. He's had 2 goes at it with us and shown that he'll always have issues that affect his capability to play sufficient games a season. Personally I think more is made of the Gunn incident than should be. Yes, he cleaned him up good and proper, but more resilient players would likely have been back as soon as the concussion protocols were over imo. There will unfortunately always be something going on with him, be it injury, head not right, personal issues, whatever. And that's why he now finds himself back home in Cork. Shame as he is talented.

A fair assessment, seeing he accepted a season contract last year, I wonder if he would be open to pay as you play scenario. He can score goals, but as you say, his fragility in body and mind seems to be an issue.

It would just feel like wasted funds. I get they don’t want to hang about, but a year of blooding Jarvis after today’s showing could see him worth close to 8 figures. He has all the minerals to be a premier league player so I’d much rather see him playing than Rak Sak yi
Not sure how you can come out with a statement like that when he’s played 30 minutes today and wasted our best attacking opportunity in the second half.

I've love us to go for Kamara or someone in that mould. I mentioned him before and It would be interesting if Norwich would take £3m-ish. Left footed, right wingers aren't easy to come by either.

I think the Jarvis performance today and Longman being sent out on loan last year sort of proves that new players aren't always better. Lokilo was a complete waste of time and we probably should have kept Longman around instead. The year away has done Jarvis the world of good.

It was great when the first thing Jarvis did today was run at and beat two players, without Delap and Jaden we miss that directness.
But you do want players who want to be here...no?

Maybe that is why they want all the fee upfront...

Maybe because he played for longer than a minute? I watched him and Millar completely change the game when they came on, despite not having a clue how Walter wants them to play

I hope we don't, let's just have a building year and not focus too much on the table. There were clearly a few issues today, but there were also quite a lot of positives. Simons had a good game as did Pandur, Jarvis & Millar looked bright and Longman's had a good pre season. We'll probably end up with quite a young squad but we seem to be going for more permanent so we can improve throughout the year and plan for a proper push next year

So basically... its similar to us thinking we were getting 15 for Philo.... if he has a 50% agreement lets say of sale, that would leave wigan with 3.5... I cant see where before he has been mentioned at 5 million...

and as an extra.... couldnt City say to the lad... right youre singing. a 4 year deal... your deal with wigan got you 2.5 million (whatever the figure) we'll pay wigan 2.5 and we'll pay you your 2.5 (or whatever the figure) over 4 years...??... surely thats the same..?.
