Celi is just not good enough and a bit of a nutter to boot. Not sure we particularly want him back right now. I know about the elite player slots but thought they still needed the clearance to play.

I've always had the impression the elite player slots bypass certain parts. I doubt he features tomorrow anyway. Tomorrow is just about getting through it with what we've got

Sky Sports are visiting all Championship clubs today before the season starts, wouldn’t surprise me if we announce a signing when they arrive at City at some point this afternoon.

We're stupid if we pay a £1m loan fee
we only had fabio for half a season, were as saki is a full season. Would Fabio have been £1m for the full season?
Im assuming if they call saki back in Jan then they'd have to retuen some of the fee.

small print: im not saying saki is better than fabio or that £1m is a good deal, im just saying we are comparing a seaon loan to half season

Fabio was fee and wages, Rak-Sakiyi is just fee. Fabio is also a much better and much more proven player. We're comparing completely different quality players.

Maybe we’ll negotiate in other ways and not pay as high of a loan fee. Delap and Morton had pretty decent loan fees…

Hull City are delighted to announce the signing of young central defender Finley Burns on a season-long loan from Premier League champions Manchester City.
The 21-year-old was named Stevenage’s Young Player of the Year while on loan last season after helping keep 17 clean sheets in 43 appearances, contributing to League One’s fourth-tightest defence.

Southwark-born Burns played three times for Swansea City during the second half of the 2021/22 campaign in his first loan away from Manchester City, whom he joined from Southend United aged 13.

The towering centre-back made his professional debut for Pep Guardiola’s side in a 6-1 EFL Cup win over Wycombe Wanderers in September 2021 and penned a new long-term contract in January 2022.

Shining at youth level, the right-footer played his part in winning three successive Premier League 2 crowns, back-to-back Under-18 Premier League North titles and the 2020 FA Youth Cup.

The composed defender, who can also play in holding midfield, has represented England at four age groups up to Under-20s level.

Burns said: “I can’t wait. I spoke to the manager and we discussed what he wanted from me. It sounded great in what I can learn from him, not only footballing-wise but my understanding of the tactical side.

“I’ve learned a lot from when I was at Swansea and going away to League One and hopefully I can show that this season.

“Stevenage was different to what I was used to and probably what I needed. I played a different position, which helped me grow as a player. Understanding different roles is important.

“I’m versatile. Last year, I started as a centre-back and moved into midfield. I’ll do what’s asked of me and try to help the team.

“I spoke to Liam Delap, asked him a few questions about the club and he only had good things to say, which helped me make a decision on what I wanted to do, along with speaking to the manager.

“Tim’s style is different but it’s something I’m really excited to learn. I can’t wait to see all the fans on Saturday and have a good go this season.”

Welcome, Finley!
