I know some of the clever, I alone understand how football works, knowledgistas on here will tell me how wrong I am and how I'm a knaa nowt, iggerant clownshoe, but the situation we are in can be analogously described thus:

If I decide I want a new pair of shoes, I don't throw my old pair away, then wait a month before I get around to going to buy a new pair, because there's a chance that the shop won't have them in my size, which'll mean that I'm now barefoot with no shoes.

I'm gonna be in pain.

I'm gonna be well off my usual pace.

I'm gonna get left behind very quickly by all sensibly shod people.
Cobblers.

We are pretty ****ed (in footballing terms) barely a 1st team and the Under 21’s are not ready so the bench will be ****e.
Players will look at who we have lost and who we have brought in and know we are in for a struggle.
Just hope the loan players we bring in can keep us up.
Keep going .

There's a certain sense of irony on here that a few of the people who bemoaned "random Turkish signings" are now bemoaning our ability to sign players based in England.

You know why we never got gazumped on Tufan or Omur? Because that's the foreign market we're most well known in and the one we are the most connected to. Closely followed by the German leagues now that Tim is here. Other teams aren't looking over there for players because they want home grown talent.

I think we'll see a change in strategy now, it wouldn't surprise me to see a few Arnel Jakupovic or Miguel Crespo type signings arrive now from the continent.

As long we get someone I wouldn't care where from. We can't go into the new season with Longman as an important player. That has to change

He’s not the most important player, he’s just clearly stepping up, well based on pre season he is. Some are so hung up on past performances they refuse to believe a 23 year old hasn’t improved after another full season at the level.

So why have we even bothered trying the English market if we're so adept in the foreign market?

I get he's improved (slightly) but, nobody here would've cared which of the two Lokilo or Longman been sold. Or even both. Nobody would care. Am I wrong?

None of us regret signing Delap after he’d only managed 4 goals season before last. No one regretted spending £5m on Philogene after getting 4 goals 1 assist the same year.

Young players are thrown in so early now people forget their age and expect them to be hyper consistent

Are we arguing over pennies with anyone does anyone know , rather than make assumptions - again!
That's the problem on here, now it's been mentioned, everyone will be all over it as gospel and we'll have 15 pages of the club is **** and Acun is s tight fisted ****

Why does that matter? He’s here and he’s performed in pre season. If he performs when the season starts too it’ll all be pointless because he was rubbish here before he went on loan

You’re talking utter rubbish there
What we can’t sign English players? Why because we’re Turkish owned? People don’t know us as a club
Just what are you saying

He’s saying clubs are more active when it comes to hijacking deals we are currently making. Had Baz never said it’s a done deal no one would’ve batted as much of an eye lid when it was hijacked, if he like many share the idea of, waited until he was announced to say that the uproar that’s followed would’ve been nowhere near as bad, but no for both Moore and BTA now Baz has described them as done deals only for interested clubs to swoop

So why have we even bothered trying the English market if we're so adept in the foreign market?

Because it's not to say that we can't sign players from the English leagues, but if we're going to approach transfers like BTA with the same approach one takes to a dead hamster in the house, we probably should focus overseas. We have to play to our strengths. It's riskier, but it means that we're going to get stuff done a lot quicker.

How long is it now that we've been in talks with Hughes? If he really, really wanted to come, he'd already be here. We're spending so much time convincing players and making minor adjustments and allowances that, in our defence, are for quality players , but have the downside that they stall to see if anything better comes up first. All it'll take is Ipswich or Leicester to make a phone call and he'll be there like a shot.

Melhem, Zombrano and Crespo we don't seem to have much competition for.

It matters because realistically he's deadwood. Regardless of whatever he should be a fringe player. Now we have nobody of any quality he's expected by rose tinted acun lovers to be the next Elliott, KLP, Bowen or Philogene. Crazy tbh. We're just forcing a fringe player to step up because we're incompetent in the transfer market. Call it negative call it whatever you want. I call it researching the evidence of our transfer incompetence

Sorry but I have said it before on here, whilst he was at Millwall I think, that I would persist with him as there is a player in there. It isn't surprising me at all that he is looking ok.

For me he will be a great squad player for us this year.
