I mean currently he has Cartwright out for the foreseeable and TLT out so if Pandur gets injured we have Owen Foster starting against Bristol City. It’s fairly understandable why he’s pushing for one? I’m sure Pandur being yet to convince also plays a part but there are fairly obvious reasons why we need another

Absolutely we need a second keeper, but somehow I don't think the keeper he's aiming to bring in will be coming as second string. We could have kept Ingram around if we just wanted senior depth..

It takes two though, it's fairly easy, for some, to have a touch of self control and ignore something and move on. That is all. :emoticon-0125-mmm:

The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.

Agree, think I need to just ignore HT from now on, unable to have a discussion in good faith.

Ingram in fairness got a good deal at Oxford 30 minutes away from where he grew up. So can see why he pushed to leave, but yeah agree imagine we’ll be looking at someone #1 quality.

It is quite funny how quickly priorities can change with a couple of injuries though. Wonder if we would have seen TLT getting significant minutes in pre-season if fit.

I think he’d have made a real case for number 1. Struggled with distribution under Rosenior but in all honesty the accountability Rosie’s system put on the goalkeepers ability with the ball at his feet was borderline ridiculous.I get the need for them to be capable but Allsop had the ball way too much, that being said he’s probably the top 5 keepers I’ve ever seen with the ball at his feet

Allsops mid range and long range passing was fantastic. Pandur doesn't seem to have the mid range in his locker unless he's told not to do it but I actually prefer his short passing to Allsops so far, really neat and crisp.

Ironically it's that mid to long range passing that can transition us so rapidly into an attack, but I suppose we're not expecting our keeper to do that perhaps?

Yeh and the mid range gets you out of trouble at times when pressed too, I suspect it's an individual thing rather than Tims orders but being generous maybe things are extreme at the moment in order to install the bravery needed to employ the tactics.

I think it’s a wrinkle to the plan. I don’t recall from watching Hamburg his keepers being direct but I’m guessing if teams play high against us it’s a good option to have

It’s 100% bravery. Theres some players on the squad right now that aren’t as gifted progressing the ball passing. So they take the risks less often. You get Robertson, Mehlem and Zambarano you give yourself some options of midfielders willing to advance the ball

To be fair I find Coyle quite frustrating in that regard. Fine with the overlap and getting a cross in and generally putting the legwork in, but on the ball it's becoming more and more rare that he'll make that pass forwards. Hopefully this changes for all of them the more they play this system.

Yeah I agree. Good dribbler but very rare he'd make a line breaking pass. Which if we get some players in that can I dont mind.

Robertson is one I think has the potential to be a top signing and it's the 101 of how to progress in the Championship. It's meant to be permanent and I assume for a 6 figure fee but it's a player coming off a good spell in L1 that you can develop & improve. There's no guarantee it'll work, but there's a big upside and not a lot of downside. Similar to when we signed Alfie or Slater.

It's those types of deals for players you can develop that can give you the added depth we need to compete but without paying a premium.

Robertson is a very tidy player. I thought we should go after him in January and excited if we're actually looking at him for a permanent deal.
