You really could start an argument in an empty phone box, couldnt you. I know i havent been on this forum much, and contributed even less, i always wondered why people had a go at you, i now know why. But id like to thank you thank you for highlighting the ignore option, done

You started arguing with me.. I then pointed out something that you ignored in order to continue arguing with me. How odd.

Rightly or wrongly we’re going to relay on prem loans more than any other championship team. Those loan players are currently on pre season tours with their parent club in place of the players who did actually play in the euros. If prem clubs loaned them out now they’d be playing pre season games with about 13 senior players and no club is daft enough to do that!

That's a fair point on the loanees, I'm not saying we should everyone in the building, I'm just questioning why we have virtually none. And not sure that's due to copa/euros in all cases.

I coulda sworn brighton released him

We actually spent over 1m on him? To sign him on 1 year deal
Thats terrible business

These debates also overlook the opportunity cost.
Maybe if Rosenior hadn't gone after him, we could have used that money on another striker who didn't have issues, who was capable of playing 40 games a season, who might well have scored a few more than the too oft quoted 10, who might have been the difference to see us into the play offs last season, and who might still be with us. Connolly is a talented player but Rosenior was wrong thinking he could fix him and he'd be right for us.

Yeah you right but I wish we’d build a decent team of our own then add a few loans for quality. feels like we’ll be on this hamster wheel every season

I think we're trying to do that this season. This summer has been exacerbated as it has coincided with 2 major player sales and a clearing of dead wood. In an ideal world we're only looking to replace Delap, Carvalho and Morton as key loans this year a long with 2/3 squad players.

So that will be 20 out, 1 new face in (or 21 out and 2 signings if you insist).
Wow. Just wow.
Not that it's a bad thing that we've moved him on (and personally I hope it means Fleming now gets chance to prove doubters wrong).
The clear out, bar Tufan, is fine. Having only 1 new face in with summer training camp over, only Tuesday and Saturday's friendlies left, and effectively 12 days left until k.o. isn't fine.

Do you know what. The transfer window should be open for one day only. July 1st. Then every club would get all their signings, and all the players for every team would be in place for the pre season friendlies and everyone would be happy.

Last summer was similar, although perhaps not as severe, we had LR regurgitating "the players need time to gel" for the first few months of the season.

We'd have also been in this position had LR not been sacked.
Last summer we did not lose 20 players.

You’d make good points if you didn’t wrap it in bootlicking wrapping paper.

We’ve been slow in the market and it’s likely we end up with a better squad come August 31st. Both facts can exist but I’m guessing nuance is hard to think about when your nose is so remarkably far up the owners arse.

You’re right. I don’t see any nuance on display.
Just a wave of bed pissers who think the season is already over. If we still had the Allams in charge, you’d probably be right and have reason to complain but I don’t see any evidence at all that the maximum level of investment won’t be ploughed into the team again.

Or we could have had Billy Sharp six months earlier!
