5?
So two to replace Greaves and Jaden (or are we saying McLoughlin is fine at CB?) one to replace either Carvalho in the 10 or one to replace Omur on RW if he's shifting central, one to replace Delap up top, one to replace Morton in midfield, and then we're just going to go with no bench? You're right that we need 5 to put out a competitive XI.. but is the plan that we just won't make subs?
I think Walter is right to be concerned that basically two weeks have elapsed since we were seemingly about to sign a RB and Moore, and we're still without a signing. Everyone at the time said "There's 4 weeks to go, let's see where we are in 2-3 weeks" but we're now 2 and a bit weeks down the line with seemingly no progress. We've lost maybe 30-40% of the pre-season now for new players, and will be expecting them to play catch up on both the tactics and fitness requirements as it sounds like Walter has pushed them pretty hard so far.
Are we going to be sat here in a week's time still without a signing saying "the season hasn't started yet don't panic"?
Im not saying 5 is anywhere near enough. Just 5 new signings in that line-up will make a hell of a difference.
I agree signings have been too slow. While you have to be patient for some signings you need to get the majority in earlier, particularly taking into account we have 10 players that need to get up to speed with Tim’s style.
Our current crop of players aren’t there yet with what’s been asked of them, so we will have at least half a team that won’t be fully up to speed when it comes to the Bristol game.
I expected 2 or 3 in before the Fenerbache game, but it doesn’t feel as if anything is imminent and it wouldn’t surprise me if we go into the Doncaster game with the same line up.
The only thing that might change that is the growing unrest from not only the fans but Tim himself. I think Acun might bite the bullet on a few deals.
