5?

So two to replace Greaves and Jaden (or are we saying McLoughlin is fine at CB?) one to replace either Carvalho in the 10 or one to replace Omur on RW if he's shifting central, one to replace Delap up top, one to replace Morton in midfield, and then we're just going to go with no bench? You're right that we need 5 to put out a competitive XI.. but is the plan that we just won't make subs?

I think Walter is right to be concerned that basically two weeks have elapsed since we were seemingly about to sign a RB and Moore, and we're still without a signing. Everyone at the time said "There's 4 weeks to go, let's see where we are in 2-3 weeks" but we're now 2 and a bit weeks down the line with seemingly no progress. We've lost maybe 30-40% of the pre-season now for new players, and will be expecting them to play catch up on both the tactics and fitness requirements as it sounds like Walter has pushed them pretty hard so far.

Are we going to be sat here in a week's time still without a signing saying "the season hasn't started yet don't panic"?

Im not saying 5 is anywhere near enough. Just 5 new signings in that line-up will make a hell of a difference.

I agree signings have been too slow. While you have to be patient for some signings you need to get the majority in earlier, particularly taking into account we have 10 players that need to get up to speed with Tim’s style.

Our current crop of players aren’t there yet with what’s been asked of them, so we will have at least half a team that won’t be fully up to speed when it comes to the Bristol game.

I expected 2 or 3 in before the Fenerbache game, but it doesn’t feel as if anything is imminent and it wouldn’t surprise me if we go into the Doncaster game with the same line up.

The only thing that might change that is the growing unrest from not only the fans but Tim himself. I think Acun might bite the bullet on a few deals.

If we genuinely get to any of the domestic friendlies without a single signing it is utterly criminal. Theres no excuses now. Other teams are making signings.

You’ll get to a point where you’ll have to move on from this ambitious signings but find options B and C have moved to a championship rival

It's only a few days to the Donny game and nothing seems close so you'd assume there won't be any new arrivals before then. Tim said the youngsters will play in that one or at least get more minutes so it could be another iffy result.

City, Swansea and Norwich have only signed one player, Blackburn, Bristol, Cardiff, Luton, Boro, Preston, Sunderland and West Brom have all only signed two. The market is fairly slow, though obviously we need players more than most and we need to get our arse in gear fairly quickly now.

I suppose what puts us top of the tree is the number going out (admittedly some dead wood) but 2 of these being out stand out players last season. This, coupled with our signing just being someone who was here already.

Those other clubs probably haven't lost half of their squad

Despite the gloom, if we are sat here in 2 weeks with;

- Rak-Sakyi
- McConnell
- Crespo
- Bree
- Yokoslu
- Archer
- New Centre Back
- Centre forward to change Championship dynamic
- 2 others

…we’d feel a bit more optimistic :emoticon-0112-wonde

I'll be pleasantly surprised if we have half of that number by then. Bare minimum required if 5 players of starting place caliber before Aug 10 and the same again (probably the loans) by Aug. 30.

Not expecting a large incoming between now and donny but even 1 would at least show signs. The knives will really come out I suspect if we put up a stinker against donny and have no signs of change

Without going back over old ground too much, it doesn't really matter that other sides haven't made many signings if they have the majority of their core/Best XI already in place. We don't. I know you acknowledge that in your post.

The wheels are turning though and a lot aren’t in the state we are in which I appreciate you’ve acknowledge

As has also been said, everyone bar Tufan was expected to go, so you have to question why things haven't been put in place to avoid us being in the predicament we find ourselves in.
