I don't understand the Giles situation. First it was we don't really want him but were obliged to purchase given loan agreement and now its we want him but Giles prefers a move away?

I don't think he does prefer a move away anymore. He sees playing under Walter as a better proposition than under Rosenior it seems (who'dathunkit)

The Giles signing was strange, was it a Liam signing? Acun's choice? Did Tan & the Brain Team want him to sign but Liam then decided he didn't fit into his team strategy? Whatever, it cost us a big wedge of cash.

We needed a left back and they got Rosie the best one of the season before. He couldn’t get the best out of him, so opted for a more defensive option in Jacob

They probably thought he was a fair replacement for Vinagre, who was dogtod and constantly injured. I guess Luton were not keen on us having him just on loan though so insisted on the obligation. At the time, it was considered a reasonable, even good price for Giles.

I really don't think this is what happened, and I don't understand why it's become so accepted. Giles took Jacob's spot upon joining and kept it until he got injured. He didn't get straight back in when fit again because we were winning and Jacob was playing well. Really don't think it was any reflection on Giles.

Middlesboro press have him as a live target despite the the contract situation.

Ultimately it'll come down to the player.

I'm not so sure it's as simple as that now. The feeling I got before we left for Turkey was that the club was open to flexible negotiations and there was a lot of talk of Boro not being willing to pay anywhere near what we did. It seems over the last week or so Giles has managed to settle in and display why he was worth that in the first place and how he can be valuable off the pitch too.

I'm hoping that means that we have a firm stance now with regard to what we would be willing to accept and I can't see Boro paying what is required.

Listening to Tan it seems there have been struggles with him settling. New manager and approach could be significant in what he decides to pursue, but you can imagine we'll not want to sell him at an immediate loss.

That sounds a lot more promising. Before it seemed like we were trying to cut our loss on a poor bit of transfer business

I actually think for all it was derided, the Turkiye trip has really helped him feel more part of the squad and settled. Could be wrong but it's the impression he gives off
