So what exactly are you trying to argue with? Teeth had a go at PLT for not taking Tan at face value and I pointed out why he was entitled to do so. You've come in arguing something no one is saying. No one has called Tan a compulsive liar. As you say, it's common sense not to take him at face value..
I listen to Tan's interview with RH, and I thought he was very clear on what the situation is. As far as Giles is concerned, they want him to stay and hope that he is happy with us, but as always if Boro came in with an offer and the player wants to go, then Tan or Acun will not stand in his way. That's how I understand it.
As far as Seri, McLaughlin & Longman, as long as TW feels they can suit his system, and as long as the player doesn't express a desire to leave, then they will be kept. I have a feeling Longman may well want to go south to Millwall, but that is just a gut feeling on my part.

Yep I don't take anything Acun says at face value anymore either.

Compulsive? Where did that come into it? If the insinuation isn't that Tan's lying/embellishing, whatever, then what is it?

What I'm arguing against is this angle that's emerged that Tan's words can't be trusted, when he's been quite clear about the situation and progress. I'm taking his words at face value because I understand there's work going on behind the scenes. That's the point he's making and that is the face value of his words. An example of not taking his words at face value is suggesting he's stitched us up before, we can't trust what he says, we need to be careful not to pay too much attention to him, reading between lines that aren't necessarily there and coming up with your own conclusions, or cataloguing everything he says so it can be used as ammo against him later on.
I can almost guarantee that some people will latch onto specifics and use them as a stick when it suits them. That's not taking his words at face value.

Just listened to Tan and think he’s eloquent genuine , specific and realistic . That doesn’t suit some of course . Loose talk causes problems , fickle players and bad agents cause others so expect successes and disappointments . I’ve met a lot of bullsh***** over the years and he’s not one of them in my opinion . Yes he can follow the party line he dies and it seems as open as he can be .
Perhaps I just find it a bit frustrating when someone dismisses supporters concerns even though those concerns end up coming to fruition. Just as he and Acun regularly said that we had no FFP issues and now all of a sudden we do. It means it's hard to take much they say as truthful.

It’s common sense not to take anything at face value said by someone you don’t know personally and trust explicitly.
Anyone outside their very close circle who listens to Tan or Acun and believes every single thing they say without considering what is being unsaid or deliberately under or over stated is a fool.
