I can’t see it, think Besiktas have walked away as he would be too expensive. I’m just happy we’re looking at the right profile of player

I thought that about Omur in January, mind.

What makes it too expensive is if they have to offer greater terms because the player has had a favourable contract offer elsewhere.

Otherwise he'd have gone there.

Now one thing we have got is wage budget to play with when you consider the proportion of it that's just left

I know people will probably question me saying this for the reasons we see on here daily ATM, but I'm really looking forward to the season

The style is going to be a great watch, no idea how successful we'll be with it but it should be entertaining.

Interviewing Tan is so much better and he contradicted so many things Baz has been saying in recent days and weeks which haven't helped with the mood.

Seems a bit strange when his style has been basically described as Keegan's Newcastle on steroids, but we're talking about a proper number 9 and a proper number 6, and a keeper who's good with his hands - and a wheelbarrow.

Almost sounds quite conservative.

I’m very glad he reiterated we won’t be taken for mugs just because we have money to spend. Let’s hope it stays that way

Just hope those prone to panic stations amongst us will also accept that we will reinvest, the squad will look better come September and again after January.

Though I accept we probably see a season of building before a serious challenge with the squad turnover and new managerial approach.

I hope the new man gets the time.

I will admit I have been raising alarm bells myself. Hearing Tan is a lot more calming but the work still needs to be done. If they build and we have a year of challenging at the right end of the table I'm happy

Because the money back from the sell on clause technically becomes part of the original fee no, they pay us £18m we immediately pay them back £5m for an academy product

I'm not entirely sure it can work like that. Otherwise they'd pay us 30m for him and get even more benefit lol. It's a reasonable question though.

I think the numbers will work a little different to that. It'll be a 30% of profit.

But however you look at it, it's certainly been more beneficial to all parties than your standard one year loan - which is essentially what it's been.

It won't matter, Villa will be fine, they've got CL money and it looks like Diaby is off to Saudi for big money.

Sounds like two of the more important positions for this system have all but been covered now if Giles stays and this RB has all but been confirmed. There's a good striker coming in, Oscar sounds like he'll relish this system, possibly Longman too, and some of the youth products are pushing for first team in this system. Walter is being choosy with signings and the club are listening to him, which is a good thing, and explains why we haven't made signings yet and also, they're all well aware of the blatantly obvious fact we need to make some signings, and the right ones, as soon as possible. Not to mention there's a noteworthy striker hopefully imminent, along with them targeting a proper number 6.

Can we stop overreacting for a bit now please? Surely this interview should put some minds at rest and dare I say it, generate an air of excitement/positivity?

The club's trying to get what the manager wants. I think that much is abundantly clear now.
