I have been to a sponsors event at Hull City this morning and Andy Dawson was the guest speaker. He couldn't stress enough just how amazing Liam was in the way he worked. Tactics, detail, man management (staff and players). He said he has no doubts that he is going to the very top. Staff and players absolutely loved working with him. Said he hasn't met Tim yet but spoken on the phone a couple of times but all the staff who have met him have said he's a really nice guy who cares about people.

They touched upon the Philogene to Barca but didn't say whether it's happening. They did say there will be departures though which we knew anyway.

Like most I’m ok with the expected departures as if we can get good money then it’s a great opportunity.

Just hope the owners finally get a transfer window right with good permanent signings as the track record so far hasn’t be good in that dept. I also personally worry that Walter won’t be given the time needed to get this right. If it’s scorched earth and total rebuild now which it appears to be then it’s going to take a season similar to Boro’s last year

I think thats the key thing. Walter has taken on arguably a bigger task than what it was when Rosie took over so has to be given the time to build a squad he's happy with and then some to make it work. Acun has to show everyone he's a man of his word on this.

I’m happy taking a season of building again. I have my doubts that Acun is. The statement of attacking football but being happy finishing tenth doesn’t stack with me

I’ll be honest - I wouldn’t.

We finished 7th last season, we should be expecting play offs next year - as that’s the only way we can show improvement

Last season was the building year in my eyes

With the squad we have and the expected rebuild my expectations currently are just get a core to the team and stabilise. If we somehow pull a rabbit out of a hat and produce a 25 man squad capable then I’ll change my tune. I’m highly sceptical we can do that though. Whilst this champ season isn’t as top heavy there’s about 8 teams I would say capable of being in the top 2. We aren’t one right now

Oh I completely agree with you.

But if we don’t finish in the top 6 I’ll be frustrated that the progress of getting our club higher in the league - and the rewards you get from that in terms of better crowds and an easier task to attract younger PL players will have been wasted

Yeah I’m the same as you. Just my expectations right now are shifted. I probably worded it wrong initially

TW has had to have had a look at the squad and decided who he thinks he can use and who he thinks we can replace. Granted, he won't have seen them train, but he'll have a good idea who is good enough for the task at hand.

Likewise, selling Tufan and Allsop, as well as releasing the likes of Traore, Christie, Sharp, Docherty and Connolly, has significantly increased our FFP headroom and probably saves us about £100k a week in wages. If Omur were to go (which I can't say I can see happening unless he's had a big offer and is desperate to go), then that really does give Walter the flexibility in the transfer market he needs.

It might very well be the case that TW has been told he can reshape the squad how he wants and he might think that he doesn't want to use somebody else's squad, he wants to build his own using a few of last season's as a core.

If he’s been told that he need 2 seasons minimum unless he relegated us. We need time potentially and I’m just highly sceptical Acun is going to be happy being in year 4 or 5 of ownership with no premier league football

Well I guess so, but then he wouldn't be sanctioning all of this if he didn't think it would work. He probably understands the financial side of it pretty well and he talks about it a lot, he'll be aware of what might happen if we have to keep starting over.

There’s no way to positively spin selling Ömür six months after he signed.
Totally agree. That would be a slight alarm bell for me. Always remember a certain ex CEO/Consultant telling anyone who would listen when drunk in Minerva that it was a dodgy money moving operation buying the club. The other day someone pointed out a few slightly odd deals we have done. I hope this is not a bad sign.

I also thought last year was the building year. But given we seem since the end of last season to have dismantled much of what was built, I'd say we are pretty much back to square one. New coach who the existing (threadbare) squad need to get used to, and about 10 new players needed. . And there isn't a manager anywhere who would get all 10 of these right. If Walter does get us into the top 6 in his first season, it will be remarkable.
