Why does there have to be a single, simple explanation for our defeat at Plymouth? We were ****. It happens sometimes. It will continue to happen sometimes no matter who we appoint as our future managers. Judging managers, squads or seasons based on a single game is a ridiculous pursuit. In this case, the wider body of evidence shows that we were a good side with some obvious limitations.

I agree that people seek simple narratives and that we were ****e.

But, that was a big game and how a manager gets his team to perform in the big games is, in my opinion, a valid measure of his ability (one of many).

This measure is one that the great managers manage to meet.

If we had taken an early lead at Plymouth, who knows, that could have seriously unsettled WBA.

Seeing the piece on the HDM about the squad, and cannot believe it is so light. I know we should be used to it, but I fear we have just gone about it the wrong way with these loan players. No strikers is the stand out and the depth is really poor too. Maybe that's modern day football in the second division, but I look at Coventry and they do this the right way by selling someone, investing in two etc
That's what I was saying around the start of this month when Rosenior was BS'ing about "building on the great foundation .blah blah". Usual suspects weren't having it! The lightness of the squad and the scale of the rebuild is alarming.
ps I'm not saying it's all down to him

In fairness some parallels to the Barnsley away under Bruce. Having said that I was far more pissed off with the **** show at Plymouth.

Wonder if Youan at Hibs would be a good replacement for Philogene. 4 goals and 8 assists this year in Scotland. Their fans say he’s inconsistent though. He’s either a world-beater or goes through the motions.

Read somewhere we are after shankland from hearts...rangers and the green ****e looking too I hear

Half the Championship are after him, but Acun has apparently taken notice of him.

We wouldn’t outdo anything Celtic could offer, but what a signing he would be.

I also rate both Duk and Miovski at Aberdeen.

Duk’s had a poor season this year compared to last and been in and out the side. Miovski is good but I think he’ll go to Rangers.

Depends if you believed Liams turn of events. According to him, players only wanted to come because of him and his philosophy.

Liam did suggest that a lot.

At the time, it could have appeared he was simply bigging up the club, the team etc. presenting our case on the media stage whilst celebrating his approach. Which worked as many fans/members of the media accepted this and amplified it further as a truth.

But now with the revelations since the sacking, it seems he was actually speaking directly to the board, through the media, to try and shore up his job and gain leverage in the power struggle.

Wonder how many of these would come back after playing for hjm?

He has but he's quite similar to Delap in his style of play. Maolida is also available from Hertha Berlin (was on loan at Hibs).
