But when he does get the ball in space he very often slows right down until he is closed down and doubled up on.

Which is the perfect time to make that decisive pass when it's on if he looks up after drawing 2 players on to himself and there has been a few times he could have and should have made those passes which could have resulted in more success than trying to always do what the opposition know he will do.

Philogene is definitely not the finished article but isn’t missing much. Slowing the play down too often and decision making are two areas to improve. For eg when Tufan was fouled and he was one on one from a tightish angle - he had a simple inside ball to Carvalho who would have scored.

Clubs are going to have to take a gamble and pay over the odds for where he is now, with the hope he will fulfil his undoubted potential. If they leave him another season there is the potential for him to add another £5-10 million on the price if he rips up the championship next year.

To be fair, Carvalho was running in from miles back, Philo probably didn't even know he was there and it wasn't nailed for Carvalho to score anyway.

Not nailed on but central, 15 yards out with no keeper was a much better bet than trying to beat the keeper from where he was. The very top players would have been aware of Carvalho.

Wonder if we're after Browne from PNE, a leader, and good all round midfielder at this level and on a free.

Eh, he’s no better than Docherty imo. I wanted us to sign Whiteman last summer as he only had a year left on his contract but he’s since signed an extension.

The more i think about it, the more i think we may see Jaden here still next season. Can’t see any team spending what City want at the level he’s at.

Easy for us to say though isn’t it, but probably when you’re there and focussed on an idea you’ve already had whilst under pressure from 2 defenders it’s probably not as straight forward as just looking up and playing the pass.

Dunno how often you've watched a game at pitch level, let alone done that whilst sweating your bollocks off and coughing your lungs up, but it's a very different perspective than when you're watching from your vantage point in the stadium or from your sofa watching the telly.

It comes with experience. He's got plenty of time to improve.
