Seems we may have been speaking to Shankland too... https://the72.co.uk/2024/09/04/hull-city-lawrence-shankland-discussions-hearts/
Never sure if these sort of stats show how good the keeper is or how bad the defence is. But doesn't mean anything unless you know what the quality of the shots were

He’s not as injury prone as I thought tbh. Had a couple bad ones at Brighton but been injury free the last 2 years in Belgium. On a free it’s an excellent signing and one I actually prefer to Meffert
Had a bit of a pre season with Ipswich so hopefully he’s not too far off fitness, as never a fan of free agents signed late. Another good signing for both the short and long term. It’s a real shame we didn’t get a striker over the line as I feel we’d be in a really good position to challenge. Hopefully Bedia can get off the mark soon
Also signings like this are good for the current dressing room, experienced in England maybe not games wise but he’s lived here and with the likes of Zambrano and Puerta moving here it’ll help them settle
He was born in Camden, that's not Camden Bogota, but Camden London. He's British to Colombian parents, started his career at Orient. Oh, and he's played over 40 Premier League games for Brighton, in midfield with Mac Allister and Bissouma. Could be a canny signing.
Agreed, good depth and competition for Zambrano. Surely if we are doing this we are at least looking at a free agent striker too..:
OH FFS ! Thought this bloody thread would be closed by now. Window closed nearly a week ago. New thread requested for free agents now please mods Put this bastard out of its misery.
I'm a bit surprised we didn't take a punt on this one, if they were looking for £3m, you'd expect a deal could be done at £2-2.5m for a player in his last year and he's scored 24 league goals a season for the past two seasons (even if was in the SPL, he's clearly a good finisher).
I think Shankland would have been better than nothing, although his finishing is just about all he has to his game - which is perfect in a team that creates a lot of chances. Cannon and Stansfield both offer far more than Shankland (ability and age) but I guess that’s reflected in their valuations.
