Now I'm confused. Are the Giles rumours not going away or have Boro moved away from him??

To add to my earlier comment. The topic was only discussed because someone on Twitter asked if we were in for an LB to replace Giles if he were to go, to which they thought no and Baz said it seems Boro have backed off but we will see what the next week brings up.

Why does Giles want to move so much? Are Middlesborough that much more appealing?

My guess is it all got a bit messy and mixed up. He probably accepted he was coming but felt unwanted (perhaps was) when the club had decided the fee was too much, seemed to actively try to and find an agreement with Boro so he probably psychologically found the prospect of going somewhere he is clearly wanted appealing. I feel for him to be honest, not a nice welcome to the club at all really.

Junior sent me the ITV Plymouth match highlights reel on Sunday morning with a note saying 'check out Giles' reaction'.

On the clip, when Coyle scores, all the players run over to congratulate him, other than Giles.

I work at Ewood, so I’m surrounded by a lot of Blackburn fans and of those that I’ve spoken to about it, no one has seemed bothered about him potentially leaving.
If the price is right, they’ll sell him but I’m not sure if he’s at the level we need, unless it’s seen as a squad acquisition.

Just seen the post suggesting that Blackburn want £3m for him, so definitely isn’t going to be brought in as anything but an expected starter at that sort of money or anywhere near.
When you look at what potentially Zambrano might cost us and Puerta for that matter, for as much as Ive only seen them on YT and others here have watched them in full games.. £3 million seems like silly silly money..

I don't know if its crappy web page or not... but this was posted on a site Sports Witness re Meffert

Club annoyed by Hull City’s ‘irritating offer’ – Tiger expected to make fresh attempt, player keen on move
19th August 2024
Hull City have appointed Tim Walter as their new manager for the 2024/25 season.

The 48-year-old joined the Tigers after spending three years at Hamburg SV.

Bild state the Hull City manager wants to raid his former club to sign Jonas Meffert this summer.

The defensive midfielder joined the second division German club in 2021, months after Walter arrived at Hamburger SV. Meffert was a regular under the current Hull City coach, who ‘particularly appreciates’ his profile.

The manager has convinced the Championship side to table an offer for the 29-year-old. He has less than a year left on his deal and Hull City could have offered around €300,000.

Bild say the English club’s ‘irritating offer’ has not at all convinced the German club, more so considering the money [around €13m] they have spent so far in this window.

The player, for his part, is keen to join Hull City. The report claims the English club could make a new attempt to try and bring him to the club this month.

There’s no mention whether Hamburg SV are willing to let him leave, or the fee needed to convince them.

There's always Randy Travis...keep it country Hull City AFC, forever and ever, Amen.

Hypothetically, €1 million for Meffert would be better value for money than £3 million for Travis, in my opinion. Meffert’s older but he’s also much better and more composed on the ball than Travis and he’s played four full seasons under Walter previously.

A €300,000 bid for Meffert is insulting even if he only has one year left on his contract. We sold Lokilo for more than that. €1 million seems fair.

Last year of his contract... I would have thought him coming in would help other players during the game of just what was expected of them. Its not about what he's worth per se, but what he is worth to TW and the team. I dont think Acun and his team need to be F'ing about if TW has asked for him and are low balling... I dont think that would go down too well with the manager.

Did Coyle celebrate? Looks as if he's running back to r/b to get ready for them kicking off.

Start low you can always consider whether you wish to go higher, start high you've got nowhere to go.
