I think if we announced someone whose name hasn't been everywhere would help the mood of the fans.
I get the feeling that because it's not all being played out publicly (like it has done at times before), they presume that nothing is happening.

I think Acun, Tan, etc. have learned since their earlier windows. I remember the Seri deal in particular was all very public before signing.

I don't blame them. There's a reason clubs don't do transfer business out in the open and while the whole "other clubs might learn of this" has for some reason become a meme, we've actually missed out on a few targets these last few seasons because people don't realise just how much of a platform social media gives them.

As I said the other day, the issue isn't clubs "learning" about players and going "ooh, let's scupper that, hes' good". We aren't doing other club's scouting for them. What does happen is clubs that are monitoring players might suddenly jump into action if they find out that the player is suddenly in advanced talks with another club. Sometimes, they'll shrug and move on. Other times, it'll force their hand. Like Kieffer Moore, for example. Or Marek Rodak. Or Gergo Bodnar (who would have been a development signing anyway, but the point stands).

Of course it isn't an issue to ask about stuff, not at all.

But people scurrying around social media, coming up empty handed and then wondering how a player could possibly sign without them knowing beforehand is taking the piss a little bit. Like, entitled much?

Yeah I get they’ve clearly learned a lot.

Still… a clue would be nice <laugh>

The season starts two weeks tomorrow
There is a query if Pandur is number 1 keeper and we might be signing another one
We don’t have a a centre back to replace by far our best centre back.
We think we’re going to sign a centre mid to provide what we lacked last season
We don’t have the centre forward after Moore chose elsewhere

so that’s the spine of your team missing

a keeper needs to get to know his defence
We’re leaving it short!

the centre back you hope is going to be the skipper more than likely, so a key position

that centre forward is desperately needed

so no one is bed wetting no one is crying
A lot of posters seem to want to be superior by saying I’m not worried etc etc

this isn’t a good way to move forward

I don't think anyone is doing that, I certainly wasn't, quite happy to just find out when it's announced. I was merely commenting that when a signing is as close as being announced that day it's unusual for something not to be out in the press these days.

I’ve noticed football forums become argumentative very quickly, but people have to remember we often want the same thing. The common factor of course, being success for our football club. If that means keeping cards close to the chest for the benefit of Hull City, then absolutely fair enough. I don’t think anyone in the right mind would dispute that.

Cryptic clues would be helpful though. Even if it was something you could attribute lots of players to. I think it would build the excitement, which is much needed it seems, due to the amount of negativity around the place.

No negativity from me though of course. I am still expecting one of the most exciting seasons ever. :1980_boogie_down:
